  • Patent number: 4137805
Abstract: A dispenser for flexible sheet material having a reserve roll that automatically moves into the dispensing position when the dispensing roll is almost exhausted. The sides of the reserve roll guide tracks are angled inwardly to engage the reserve roll spool at an off center point, so the spool is pushed downwardly into contact with a driving roller during rotation. The leading edge of the reserve roll towel engages the remaining portion of the almost exhausted dispensing roll and is moved therewith to be threaded through the dispensing mechanism. The perforating mechanism is assisted through the perforating stroke by a spring mechanism. The sensing roll is halted by a roll stop mechanism including a pivoted stop link and an anti-reverse pawl.

  • Patent number: 4137425
Abstract: The teleprinter is provided with a bialphabetic keyboard, for example latin and arabic, and a dot printing head controlled by two different character generating units corresponding to the two alphabets. The teleprinter is normally predisposed for one of the two alphabets and can be switched to the other alphabet by means of a sequence of characters. The arabic character generating unit is adapted to recognize predetermined sequences for generating composite characters, i.e. the lam-alef group. Furthermore, some characters at the end of a word are generated by adding a tail to the normal character in response to the spacing code. The teleprinter can be connected to the conventional existing teleprinters, since neither the composite characters, nor the tails are transmitted on the line.

  • Patent number: 4132156
Abstract: A rotary receptacle forming apparatus is disclosed which automatically forms a receptacle from a precut and prescored flat receptacle blank. Individual ones of the receptacle blanks are fed by a feeding mechanism from a stack of receptacle blanks to a die. According to the present invention, the rotating mandrel and the die cooperate with each other to achieve linear motion. This is accomplished by constantly maintaining the rotating mandrel in a fixed orientation parallel to the die while the mandrel passes through the die and, at the same time, enabling the die to track the mandrel by moving radially of the circular path of the mandrel. After the mandrel moves through the die, movable forming means on the mandrel fold the corner hinges on the receptacle blank. The driving force for the movable forming means is derived from the movement which enables the mandrel to maintain a fixed orientation relative to the die.

  • Patent number: 4132867
Abstract: A synchronization system for a time division multiplex system. Only a single synchronizing bit for each multiplex frame is transmitted, thereby reducing to a minimum the use of channel transmission capacity for synchronization purposes. Nevertheless, a synchronizing word consists of a number of successive synchronizing bits and a plurality of synchronizing words are employed in the synchronization process, so that a substantial degree of insensitivity to errors in synchronization is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4133029
Abstract: A data processing system constituted by at least two subsystems, each having at least an integrated combinational logic unit comprising a storage and input/output gates and with which at least two control units are connected. The subsystems are constructed using integrated semiconductor techniques. Peripheral units are connected to the input/output gates. The data path between the control units, among one another or between one control unit and the peripheral units, is routed, respectively, over the storage or over the input/output gates to which the relevant peripheral units are connected. The control unit supplies data signals which cause the aforementioned data path to be completed.

  • Patent number: 4132029
Abstract: An improved aerodynamic toy for being thrown through the air in a spinning motion is disclosed. A centrally located body in the form of a many sided pyramid is attached to the circular base or saucer portion of the aerodynamic toy. The spinning motion of the aerodynamic toy enables the centrally located body to perform a number of aerodynamic functions which improve the flight performance of the aerodynamic toy. In the preferred embodiment, the centrally located body is a four sided square bottomed pyramid having an elevational profile higher than the rim and saucer portion of the aerodynamic toy.

  • Patent number: 4131854
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel switching circuit for regulating the repetition rate of clock pulses generated by a clock pulse generator. This repetition rate regulation of the clock pulses thereby controls the sampling instants at which a data signal is sampled. The best possible sampling interest is found by sampling at a first zero crossing of a distorted data pulse after its maximum value. The circuit of the invention generates a first signal which corresponds to the sign of the difference between the actual and the desired values of the data signal at the sampling instants; the circuit also generates a second signal which corresponds to the sign of the desired value of the data signal. A delay element delays the second signal by a period of the clock pulse. A multiplier circuit multiplies the first signal by the delayed second signal and produces an output control signal which regulates the repetition rate of the clock pulse generator.

  • Patent number: 4131948
Abstract: An automatic bowling scoring system is disclosed including a central manager's console unit linked in over a plurality of communication buses with a plurality of lane score processors having printing and CRT display monitor units. The manager's console sends commands to the score processors, and thereby gains control over the execution sequences followed by each score processor and modifies its functional sequence. In particular, the manager's console is capable of selectively controlling the display at any lane pair processor, to cause display of locally generated game score information, or supplementary information developed at the manager's console. The manager's console can also cause the transfer of the locally generated game score information on any monitor to be routed over the buses to the manager's console display monitor.

  • Patent number: 4130515
Abstract: A lignin-based resin binder for use in the manufacture of composition board is produced by the in situ copolymerization of a major portion of a lignosulfonate salt with melamine and formaldehyde. This resin binder employs lignosulfonate levels up to about 70 percent without any of the deleterious effects normally associated with lignin-based resin systems. The resulting binder is completely compatible with conventional composition board processes and produces a board with superior stability under adverse conditions involving high humidity and temperature over a board produced with a standard typical urea-formaldehyde resin as presently in use.

  • Patent number: 4128382
Abstract: A keyboard of a typewriter comprises a common actuator biased by a spring. The depression of a key causes a corresponding intermediate member to engage with the actuator to initiate an operating cycle and to move the intermediate member to a position which causes selection of an operation corresponding to the key which has been depressed. The engagement of the common actuator with more than one intermediate member consequent upon depression of more than one key causes the common actuator to move under the spring bias at a substantially reduced speed and a locking mechanism to lock selected operations. A reloading mechanism is responsive to the speed of the actuator for unlocking the locking mechanism and restoring the actuator and the intermediate member when the reduced speed is sensed.

  • Patent number: 4128409
Abstract: Process for the recovery of chlorine from chlorine-containing gas mixtures in a multi-stream heat exchanger wherein the chlorine-containing mixtures are separated from other gases which would solidify or liquify in the process, either before or after compression of the mixture, and is then cooled below the dew-point of chlorine in one stream of the heat exchanger; the liquid and gaseous phases thus produced are then separated and re-passed separately through the heat exchanger, the chlorine passing to recovery and the gas phase to re-cooling before being re-passed once more through the heat exchanger prior to discharge and wherein a predetermined mixture of gaseous and liquid phases is also recycled separately through the heat exchanger before re-compression and return via the heat exchanger to the phase-separation apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4128051
Abstract: A bland protein product having a texture and mouth feel simulating animal meat is prepared by forming a dough-like mixture of protein material and water, and extruding a continuous tubular shell of the protein dough, while simultaneously injecting steam into the interior of the tubular shell, whereby the tubular shell of protein is blown into discrete pieces of irregularly shaped protein material by the steam flow. The steam flow then propels the protein pieces into and through a confined treating zone in which further texturization is accomplished. Finally, the protein material is passed through a back pressure maintaining means and recovered in usable form. Apparatus for performing this process comprises an extrusion assembly consisting of a screw feed chamber communicating with an extrusion die assembly which produces a continuous tubular shell of extrudate. The extrusion die is provided with means for injecting steam into the interior of the tubular shell of extrudate formed.
