  • Patent number: 4069276
Abstract: Phenolic resins employed in the manufacture of high-pressure decorative laminates are modified by the addition of a partially etherified melamine-formaldehyde resin which is the reaction product of melamine, formaldehyde, an aliphatic polyol and furfural. The modified phenolic resin exhibits better penetration and flow properties and cures more rapidly. Laminates made with this modified resin can be manufactured at lower pressures and without the lengthy in-press cooling step of the prior art. Moreover, the laminates so produced possess enhanced flexibility due to the internal plasticizing effect of the modifier of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 4066507
Abstract: DL-leupeptins have been known to be produced by leupeptins-producing organisms and only L-leupeptins have bioactivity. This invention provides the processes for production of L-leupeptins in high yield and for its extraction without racemization.L-leupeptins may be efficiently produced by inoculating a leupeptins-producing strain of Streptomyces into a medium containing nutrient sources and aerobically cultivating under the condition of pH 5.0 to 7.0. Production of L-leupeptins is markedly increased by adding to the medium each 0.5 to 1.25% (wt/vol) of L-leucine, L-arginine (as hydrochloride), and glycine, and is further increased by adding to the medium 0.05 to 0.3% (wt/vol) of at least one of the yeast extract, casein hydrolyzate, and ribonucleic acids, in addition to the above amino acids. Efficient separation of L-leupeptins of acceptable purity from the cultured broth can be effected by use of a nonionic adsorbent resin, wherein the pH is controlled always to be 7.0 or lower.

  • Patent number: 4064459
Abstract: A method is described for testing the transmission quality of a data transmission system in its operational state. During a test key actuation data bits having a specific marking polarity and at least one additional bit having a polarity corresponding to the spacing condition are transmitted. At a receiving station the latter transmitted bit group is analyzed for disturbances. In the event of multiple undisturbed reception of the aforementioned bit pattern a visual indication is produced. At the same time, in the receiving station, the data output of the receiver is connected to the transmitter, and the aforementioned bit pattern is transmitted back to the testing station. With multiple undisturbed reception of the bit pattern a visual indication is produced in the testing station. During the test procedure the data input and output units are blocked.

  • Patent number: 4063072
Abstract: A method for operating an aircraft at the minimum total flying cost per unit of distance. The fuel cost per unit of distance and the flying time cost per unit of time are calculated at a first fuel flow setting and are added together to obtain a total flying time cost per unit distance. After a predetermined time interval, a second fuel flow setting is entered into the aircraft and a second total flying time cost per unit distance is calculated and compared to the first. The fuel flow setting is again adjusted in the direction of the minimum total flying time cost per unit of distance. This procedure is repeated until the minimum is found, and can be repeated thereafter at specific intervals to assure that the minimum is maintained.

  • Patent number: 4063174
Abstract: A circuit arrangement is described for carrying out a diversity selection from a number of data channels. The diversity channels are connected to a majority logic decision stage. The diversity channels and the output from the majority logic stage are connected to a channel switch as data channels. By means of a quality evaluation stage, one of the diversity channels is switched through to the data bank under the control of signals produced responsive to an indication that a minority of the diversity channels is better than each of the remaining diversity channels by a given quality difference. The majority decision channel is switched through with one of the control signals when the majority of the diversity channels are poorer than the remaining diversity channels during the given test period by another given quality difference.

  • Patent number: 4063179
Abstract: A radio broadcast receiver is disclosed for sequentially scanning and monitoring a plurality of preselected broadcast channels to determine the presence of a radio signal in any one of the preselected broadcast channels. Selector means are provided for each preselected channel to enable the user to individually select the mode of operation for each preselected channel. Three modes of operation are provided for each channel as follows: (1) the scan mode; (2) the bypass mode; and (3) the select mode. Structurally, the receiver comprises a two pole, three-position switch associated with each channel. With the switches in their "scan" position, the receiver automatically scans each channel in sequence, stopping only on a channel which is broadcasting, and resumes scanning when such station terminates broadcasting. If any switch is moved to a second "bypass" position, the scanning proceeds as above but without stopping on the bypassed channel.

  • Patent number: 4061879
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for transmitting, over switching apparatus, digital information signals, together with a preceding address signal, wherein the address signal indicates a signal receiver capable of receiving the information signals in any time sequence. The information signals emanating from a given signal transmitter, prior to being transmitted to the switching apparatus, are individually stored, and only after a predetermined number of information signals are present are the information signals and related address signals transmitted. In the switching apparatus the address signal is used to establish a connection between the switching apparatus input and the switching apparatus output connected to the addressed signal receiver only for the period during which the information signals are transmitted.

  • Patent number: 4061997
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for data transmission systems is described wherein the transmission of excessively faulty data signals is recognized and prevented, thereby stopping the transmission of senseless text. A fault discriminator emits a fault signal which is subsequently integrated. The integrated fault signal, if it exceeds a predetermined value, triggers a threshold value stage to produce a blocking signal. The blocking signal acts on the circuitry in a data sink, e.g., a teleprinter, to suppress the processing of the received data.

  • Patent number: RE29531
Abstract: A grinding machine having a movable workhead for carrying a workpiece and a movable wheelhead for carrying a grinding wheel, the workhead and the wheelhead being axially movable along intersecting paths. The wheelhead is provided with a lead screw drive in which the screw is fixed against rotation and the nut carried by the wheelhead platform is rotated by a gear drive but is fixed axially. This drive is used to provide micrometric movement. The screw terminates at one end in a piston in a hydraulic cylinder, this providing piston/cylinder drive for large amounts of wheelhead movement. Workhead feed is provided by a rotatable and axially displaceable spindle drive by a step-by-step electric motor through a gear train that converts the rotary motion output of the electric motion to corresponding axial movement of the spindle. .Iadd.
