Patent number: 6410857Abstract: A double-sided circuit card assembly comprises first and second printed wiring boards having first and second sets of electrical contacts mounted thereon, and a signal cross-over interconnect member interposed between the first and second printed wiring boards and bonded thereto so as to form therewith a three-component laminate. The cross-over interconnect member comprises a metal frame member having a slot defined therethrough, and a flex circuit member, having a third set of electrical contacts mounted thereon, is passed through the slot and bent around an internal edge portion of the frame member so as to electrically interconnect the first and second sets of electrical contacts of the first and second printed wiring boards. In this manner, the number of interconnection sites is enhanced, the fabrication of the electrical connections is facilitated, and the flex circuit member is disposed internally of the laminate structure so as not to be exposed to external environmental factors.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2001Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventor: Stephen G. Patent number: 6375099Abstract: A hot melt adhesive dispensing nozzle or die assembly spans two adjacent adhesive material valved inlets. One of the valved inlets is blocked off by means of the nozzle or die assembly, while the other adhesive material input or valved inlet is in effect split into two equal laterally separated output arrays of dispensing nozzles so as to provide for a void in the dispensing or deposition pattern at a predeterminedly desired location. The nozzle or die assembly comprises unique structure for ensuring that the hot melt adhesive material is able to be conducted to the remote one of the laterally separated array of dispensing nozzles. In addition, the two laterally separated arrays of output dispensing nozzles together comprise the same number of conventional non-split output dispensing nozzles operatively associated with each adhesive material input or valved inlet such that the volume flow rate through each one of the individual dispensing nozzles remains the same.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2000Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Grant McGuffey

Patent number: 6371073Abstract: A vibration isolation or noise attenuation and fluid sealing system, for use in connection with internal combustion engine components. For example, for use in the mounting of a valve cover or rocker arm cover upon a cylinder block or cylinder head, or for the mounting of an oil pan cover upon an oil pan housing. The system has an isolation medium or member mechanically and/or chemically bonded to a peripheral flange portion of the cover member. A sealing flange member is chemically and/or mechanically bonded to the isolation member or medium. The three components being a one-piece unitary cover assembly. The fluid leakage along the interfaces defined between the three components is effectively eliminated. The one-piece assembly is secured to the cylinder block or head, or the oil pan housing, by shoulder bolt fasteners. The fasteners exert compressive forces upon the isolation member so as to vary the stiffness and frequency characteristics thereof.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2000Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: James J. Patent number: 6358481Abstract: A dual electrode plasma treatment chamber system comprises first and second plasma treatment chambers coaxially disposed with respect to each other within an insulated enclosure. A wire to be treated is adapted to be coaxially disposed through both of the plasma treatment chambers. A high voltage generator transformer has its primary winding stage electrically connected to ground, whereas opposite ends of its secondary winding stage are respectively electrically connected to first and second electrodes respectively mounted upon the first and second plasma treatment chambers. In this manner, equal and opposite voltage levels, which are equal in magnitude but 180° out-of-phase with respect to each other, are applied to each electrode. Accordingly, low-level voltage and current values are present upon a portion of the wire to be treated which is disposed externally of the insulated enclosure.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2000Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventor: John J.
