  • Patent number: 7506693
Abstract: A hammer includes a housing; a motor mounted within the housing; and a tool holder rotatably mounted on the house for holding a cutting tool. A striker is mounted in a freely slideable manner within the housing, for repetitively striking an end of a cutting tool when a cutting tool is held by the tool holder. The striker is reciprocatingly driven by the motor, when the motor is activated, via a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism comprises: a pivoting drive arm pivotally mounted within the housing at one end and which is drivingly connected to the striker; a pivotal drive mechanism connected to the pivoting drive arm and which converts a rotary movement generated by the motor into an oscillating pivotal movement of the pivoting drive arm; and the amplitude of the oscillations of the pivoting drive arm can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 7490642
Abstract: A router depth adjustment mechanism for minimizing rapid course depth adjustment for standard and plunge routers. Routers with rapid or course adjustment mechanisms may permit a router motor housing to drop suddenly, if the user is inattentive. Sudden adjustments may result in damage to the router and potentially contact the user. The mechanism of the present invention includes a threaded shaft and a biased thread engaging member which may be disengaged for rapid adjustment. A restraining device and/or a break may be included to minimize the rate of change.

  • Patent number: 7472760
Abstract: A power hammer has a handle mounted to a housing and capable of limited movement relative thereto. A hollow axle is attached to the housing and is rotatable between a first and second position and is biased towards the first position by a torsional spring which extends within the axle. Rotation of the axle causes rotation of arms connected thereto. Connectors are slidably mounted within guides and are respectively connected at one end to each of the arms and at the other end to the handle. Vibrations in the housing cause movement of one end of the handle, which causes movement of the associated connector and arm. Movement of the one arm causes rotation of the axle, which therefore causes movement of the other arm and connector, and the other end of the handle. Thus, the movement of one end of the handle is coupled to the other end.

  • Patent number: 7458492
Abstract: A contact safety and trigger mechanism for use with a pneumatic fastener in order to permit efficient pneumatic fastener actuation mode selection. A rotating rod is included in a contact safety assembly which is constructed to slide toward/away from a driver housing, defining a piston for securing a fastener disposed within the piston's path of travel. The rotating rod includes a first shoulder or ledge and a second shoulder which is off-set from the first shoulder. The rod may be rotated in order to orientate the selected shoulder, to function as a stop for a pivoting trigger assembly, which is constructed to contact a pneumatic valve, to initiate a fastening event in-which a fastener is driven into a workpiece.

  • Patent number: 7455003
Abstract: A tile saw includes a base, a frame, adjacent first and second rails disposed on the frame, and a table slidingly disposed on the first rail. The table has a bottom surface and an upper surface for supporting a workpiece. The second rail a bottom surface and an upper surface that faces the bottom surface of the table. First and second bearings are disposed on a first shaft connected to the table. The first bearing is disposed on the first rail, and the second bearing is disposed on the bottom surface of the second rail. The frame includes a support assembly and a saw assembly with a motor and cutting wheel. The motor and cutting wheel are supported by an arm so that the cutting wheel hangs above the upper surface of the table. The first rail and the second rail are positioned on one side of the cutting wheel.

  • Patent number: 7445054
Abstract: A driving mechanism for a powered hammer having a motor and a tool holder includes a ram mounted for reciprocation in a guide tube section. The ram has a radially outwardly projecting sealing portion and an outer circumferential surface that defines a helically shaped vent channel running from a front end portion of the circumferential surface to a rear end portion of the circumferential surface and being interrupted by the sealing portion. A piston is driven in reciprocating motion of the motor such that an air cushion is generated in a space between the ram and the piston to cause an impact on the tool bit by movement of the ram towards the tool bit. The space between the ram and the piston is temporarily connected with ambient air through the helical vent channel and a recess in the wall of the guide tube section after causing the impact on the tool bit.

  • Patent number: 7422075
Abstract: An overload clutch assembly for a power tool having two torque settings through which rotary drive is transmitted to a spindle. The overload clutch assembly is capable of being between switched between the two torque settings by at least one actuator. The clutch assembly comprises a carrier rotationally mounted on a output clutch spindle; a first clutch plate operational for transmitting torque below a first level; and a second clutch plate operational for transmitting torque below a second level higher than the first; and characterised in that, when the overload clutch is in the higher torque setting, the torque is transferred from the carrier to the output clutch spindle via the second clutch plate only.
