Abstract: A powered hammer includes a housing, a tool holder coupled to the housing and configured to hold a tool, a motor within the housing, a cylinder disposed within the housing, and a piston slideably mounted within the cylinder. A drive mechanism converts rotary output of the motor into a reciprocating motion of the piston. The drive mechanism includes a crank shaft rotationally driven by the motor, a drive pin eccentrically mounted on the crank shaft, and a con rod with a first end connected to the drive pin and a second end connected to the piston. A ram is slideably mounted forward of the piston that is reciprocatingly driven by the piston. A beat piece is slideably mounted forward of the ram. The beat piece is repetitively struck by the reciprocating ram, which in turn repetitively strikes an end of the tool when held in the tool holder to transfer the momentum of the ram to the tool. Lubrication fluid covers at least part of the drive mechanism.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an elevating mechanism, in particular to an elevating mechanism for routers, is configured for easy micro adjustment and coarse or macro adjustment. In an embodiment, a power tool includes a base configured to adjustably receive a motor housing for operating a working tool. A worm drive is pivotally coupled, in an eccentric configuration, to an eccentric lever. The eccentric lever is adjustably coupled to at least one of the housing or the base such that the eccentric lever is operable to cause the worm drive to be positioned into an engaged position with a rack assembly and a released position wherein the worm drive is remote from the rack assembly. The elevating mechanism is operable to permit rotational micro adjustment and macro manual adjustment wherein the worm drive is remote from the rack assembly for permitting coarse adjustment of the motor housing with respect to the base.
Abstract: A vibration reduction and lubricating mechanism for a powered hammer includes a power driven piston in a cylinder that reciprocatingly drives a ram, which repetitively strikes a beat piece, which repetitively strikes a tool received in a tool holder. The vibration reduction and lubricating mechanism includes a first chamber defined in a housing of the powered hammer. A second chamber is defined within an end portion of the cylinder facing the beat piece, forward of the ram. A passageway is in communication with the first and second chambers. A counter mass is mounted for oscillating movement within the first chamber. When the hammer is operated, the counter mass is caused to oscillate to counteract vibration in the housing and to cause lubrication fluid to move between the first and second chambers.
Abstract: A saw includes a base and a pair of substantially parallel stationary rails coupled to the base and extending in a longitudinal direction. A saw supporting assembly is coupled to the base and includes an arm extending from the base and a cutting blade coupled to the arm. A table for supporting a workpiece has a pair of substantially parallel sliding rails fixedly coupled to the table. The sliding rails slide relative to the stationary rails so that the table is moveable between a cantilevered position where at least a portion of the sliding rails are not in contact with the stationary rails, and a non-cantilevered position where substantially the entire length of the sliding rails are in contact with the stationary rails.

Abstract: A collet system for a rotary tool includes a collet for receiving a bit; a wrench assembly for engaging the collet, the wrench assembly moving along an axis extending axially through the collet between a first position where the wrench assembly is disengaged from the collet and a second position where the wrench assembly is engaged with the collet; and an adjusting collar coupled to the wrench assembly for moving the wrench assembly between the first position and the second position, wherein upon moving the wrench assembly to the second position, the adjusting collar is rotatable for rotating the wrench assembly to tighten and loosen the collet.
Abstract: A depth adjustment mechanism, disposed on a router, is enabled using a worm drive that includes a shaft member engaging with a rack member. The shaft member couples with a sleeve disposed on a base of the router. The rack member is coupled with a motor casing of the router. The depth adjustment mechanism enables a user selectable engagement of the shaft member with the rack member. A rotating member, which is coupled with the shaft member, is engaged by a user to displace the shaft member relative to the rack member. The selective engagement of the shaft member with the rack member and rotation enabled by the rotating member enables continuous metered depth adjustment for the router.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a mechanism and method for providing above the table securing/unsecuring of a router motor housing. The mechanism of the present invention employs a mechanical connection included on a pivot member to couple with a wrench device extended through the tabletop. The mechanism permits a user to adjust or release the motor housing without having to reach under the table surface.
