Abstract: A clock is provided having a luminous digital display. The clock is enclosed in a housing having a glass covered display face. A stationary light source is provided within the housing. The first end of each of a plurality of optical fiber light conductors are mounted in annular concentric bands on a mounting board inside of the clock. The second end of each of the optical fiber light conductors are arranged in a pattern on the display face to indicate time. The light guides receive light from the light source and cause illumination of the display. Filters are mounted on arms which are in turn rotatably attached to the output shafts of a clock motor. The arms are disposed in such position that the filters come between the light source and the first ends of a group of light conductors as the filters rotate, filtering the light received by that group of conductors, and creating a colored display of time information at the second ends.A special arrangement of the light guides produces a simulated pendulum effect.

Abstract: In a process for producing a magnetic metal powder, a magnetic metal compound is reduced by wet reduction in a state mixed with a clay or is heat treated in the presence of a clay powder. Alternatively, a magnetic metal powder is prepared by reducing a magnetic metal powder by wet reduction or by reducing a magnetic metal compound in a state mixed with a clay by dry reduction, and then the resulting powder is heat treated in the presence of the clay powder. The clay is typically kaolin.
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for use in brewing single cup quantities of a beverage such as coffee. A frame supports a vertically movable open-bottom cylinder and a piston within the cylinder. A base assembly is reciprocal horizontally between the brewing position and a discharge position. In the brewing position, a brewing cavity is disposed beneath and sealed with the cylinder. Actuation of various components through a predetermined repetitive cycle is controlled by a motor driven camshaft.
Abstract: The roller skate is designed for outdoor skating with balancing control being attained by a pair of center wheels, a front wheel and a rear wheel. Center wheels are on opposite sides of an imaginary center line while the front and rear wheels are aligned with each other along said imaginary line. All wheels are of the same size. A discrete shock absorber is provided for each of the front and rear wheels with a common shock absorber being provided for the center wheels.
Abstract: A pedestal crane of compact construction having a small turning radius is provided for use on board ships and/or off-shore drilling platforms. The crane has a dynamic load compensator so that it may absorb shock loads due to waves on the surrounding body of water. The crane mast includes upright walls supporting a fuel tank and hydraulic tank with the prime mover being between said walls.
Abstract: A single facer machine for making a corrugated web is provided with a vacuum means for retaining a corrugated medium on one of the corrugating rolls. Said one corrugating roll has a core through which a heated fluid may flow. The core is surrounded by a sleeve which contains peripheral longitudinally extending flutes and valleys meshed with corresponding flutes and valleys on the other corrugating roll. A plurality of suction hoods are juxtaposed to and sealed to the outer periphery of said sleeve.
Abstract: The apparatus includes a flexible hose having a first fitting at one end for attachment to a deflated tire and a second fitting at the other end for attachment to an inflated tire from which air is to be transferred to the deflated tire. The second fitting has a spring biased check valve for cutting off flow from the inflated tire to the deflated tire when the pressure entering the second fitting is below a predetermined level.
Abstract: Pilots for waste gas flare stacks are disclosed suitable for use with stacks having natural draft or forced draft in which the pilot burner head to which a combustible gas-air mixture is supplied is at the upper end of a tube carried by the stack for supplying additional air to the pilot burner head, the pilot burner head being located close to the outlets for the waste combustible gas to be burned, and preferably close to the center of the stack, provisions being made to ignite the gas-air mixture at the pilot burner head. A thermocouple may also be carried in the pilot burner head to provide information at a remote location as to pilot burner operation.
Abstract: A corrugated paperboard slitter has at least one rotatable shaft with a plurality of slitter or scorer heads slideably received on the shaft. A means is provided adjacent each of the shafts for positioning heads individually or as a group by way of a shifter. A mechanism moves the shaft between an operative slitting or scoring position and an adjusting position wherein the heads can be engaged by the positioning means.
Abstract: An ignitor is provided for offshore-subsea flares in which a flare, floating or fixed, is provided separated from an offshore drilling platform but connected by a subsea conduit or connection, preferably flexible, through which fuel gas is delivered to the flare for pilots and for ignitor gas for the pilots and which has provisions for insulated conductors for control of the pilot gas, the ignitor gas and for the ignition of the ignitor gas and indication of operating conditions.
Abstract: The molten glass feeding bowl has two parallel sides with a third side being generally perpendicular thereto. Electrodes for heating glass within the bowl extend through aligned holes in the side walls of the refractory bowl and metal housing. The bowl can accommodate electrodes along its parallel side walls and along a front wall depending upon the operative position of the shear mechanism which may extend along the center line of the bowl or to either side of the center line.
Abstract: A paper sheeter for cutting two or more webs simultaneously into sheets has a rotary knife to make the cuts in desired register with marks (e.g. watermarks) carried by the web. A sensor is provided for detecting the marks on each web and a further sensor monitors the knife rotation; signals from the several sensors are fed to a control unit in which the signals from each mark sensor are compared with signals from the knife sensor to produce feed control signals for the respective web. These control signals may be applied to brakes associated with the web supply reels to vary the tension in each web; alternatively one web may be controlled by using the control signals to vary the speed ratio between the knife and pull rolls feeding the webs to the knife.
Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette comprises a metallic intermediate frame having upper and under flat surfaces in parallel and providing a space large enough to hold a reel of magnetic tape, and a top plate and a bottom plate, both of which are plastic moldings in the form of substantially flat plates fastened together with the intermediate frame along the flat surfaces. The intermediate frame and the both plate have aligning and matching means for precise engagement with one another.
Abstract: The band-pass filter coupling element of a coaxial cable is in the form of a laminent of dielectric material having a conductive layer on opposite faces. Each end face is metallurgically joined to an end face of a center conductor. A sleeve of dielectric material surrounds each center conductor. A seamless tube of dielectric material surrounds the filter elements and the dielectric sleeves. A monolithic jacket of electrically conductive metal surrounds said seamless tube.
Abstract: A removable L-shaped lift pad for a trailer or cargo container has its legs interconnected by a rub rail. One leg has fastener means to facilitate attachment to traverse beams on a container. The pad provides a flush bottom on a container without welding.
