  • Patent number: 6241105
Abstract: A jewelry display stand including a vertical post assembly mounted on a base. A plurality of arms, serving as hanger elements for jewelry or other merchandise, radiate from the post. The arms co-operate with anti-removal elements on the post that prevent merchandise from being removed from the spokes. In one embodiment a ring engaging the tips of the arms provides the anti-removal elements. In another embodiment the anti-removal elements are a set of spokes above the arms. Either the arms or the spokes are movable up and down and are spring-biased upwards, to a position in which the arms are separated from the anti-removal elements and merchandise can be removed from or placed on the arms. A cap on the post engages the movable elements, holding them down, and keeping the arms engaged with the ring or spokes. A slot in the cap allows one arm or spoke to rise to the non-engaging position, and the cap is rotatable about a vertical axis so that the slot can be aligned with any selected arm or spoke.

  • Patent number: 6176260
Abstract: A fuel tank for a motor vehicle, comprising a tank body with a smaller reservoir which is arranged therein and which is inserted into the tank body through a closable opening in the wall thereof, and joined thereto. The reservoir is deformable at least in portions of the wall defining same. After the reservoir has been at least partially inserted into the tank body, it undergoes a change in shape resulting in an increase in its volume within the tank body and a change in its cross-section such that the largest cross-section of the reservoir is larger than the cross-section of the opening of the wall in the tank body, that is available for insertion of the reservoir. The reservoir is defined at its ends by rigid components and the deformable wall portion of the reservoir is in the region between those components.

  • Patent number: 6106686
Abstract: An anchoring device to be placed atop a slab of electrophoresis gel in a submerged electrophoresis process chamber includes a planar frame member shaped and sized to distribute weight evenly across the gel slab, particularly having a width dimension generally the same as the slab, and a plurality of legs spaced evenly around the frame. The legs have a length sufficient to raise the frame above the level of buffer liquid in process chamber, and have a blunt bottom surface in contact with the gel slab. The weight of the device and the even distribution of that weight is sufficient to anchor the gel slab and keep it submerged in the buffer liquid in the electrophoresis process chamber while making minimal contact with the slab and not distorting the electrical field through the gel, and without penetrating or lacerating the slab. The frame encloses one or more open window areas above the sample wells in the gel slab to permit easy access to load biological samples.

  • Patent number: 5996833
Abstract: A tamper evident dust cover for a drum bung is provided. The cover includes a cap portion and a sidewall portion extending downwardly from the edge of the cap portion. The cap portion has a pair of frangible lines which extend to its edges. The sidewall portion has an inner and outer surface, and a pair of frangible lines on one surface which communicate with the frangible lines on the cap portion. A locking ring is integrally formed with and extending downwardly from the sidewall portion. The locking ring is adapted to hinge at its juncture with the sidewall portion between two positions. In the first position, the locking ring is positioned downwardly and inwardly below the hollow area formed by the cap and the sidewall. When the locking ring is in the second position, it is positioned upwardly and inwardly into the hollow area of the cover. In the second position, the locking ring is capable of engaging the lip of a drum bung to prevent removal of the cover A pull tab extends outwardly from the sidewall.

  • Patent number: 5913263
Abstract: A device for stretching a screen on a roller frame includes at least three torsion stations and a support structure. Each torsion station includes a torsion tool, for example, a wrench head, which can be attached to one end of one of the sides of the frame and torqued for the purpose of stretching the screen. Each torsion tool is attached to a shaft structure at a first pivot point. Each shaft structure is attached to the support structure at a second pivot point. Each shaft structure has a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder positioned intermediately along its length for altering the length of the shaft structure between its first and second pivot points, thereby causing the wrench head to torque and rotate one of the rollers of the frame. A control panel allows the operator to activate all of the pneumatic cylinders simultaneously and with substantially equal forces, thereby resulting in a more rapidly and evenly stretched screen.

  • Patent number: 5844213
Abstract: An induction heating coil assembly for use in a roller induction heating line has a magnetic shunt for receiving a portion of an electromagnetic field generated along the axis of the induction coil and directing that portion along a path parallel to a workpiece passing along the heating line. This flux path ensures that eddy currents induced in the workpiece flow primarily perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece, and not along the axis of the workpiece where they could cause arcing between the moving workpiece and the conveyor rolls.

  • Patent number: 5839372
Abstract: A load handling trolley for use on a channeled track is provided that includes an elongate load engager and bogies. The load engager is raisable and lowerable relative to the bogies via a ramp and rollers when the bogies are caused to move longitudinally relative to the load engager. Relative movement is controlled by a lever operated crank which is pivotally mounted with respect to the elongated load engager and which operates links pivotally connected between the crank and the bogey chassis. An abutment is operable between the links and the bogey chassis to limit the angular movement between the links and the bogey chassis. This permits the raising of the load engager when an end thereof partially projects beyond the end of the channeled track. Additional angular movement of the lever operated crank beyond that required to attain the limit position is allowed for by relieving an end plate of the trolley.

  • Patent number: 5711834
Abstract: After sanding the upper surface 6 of a concrete slab 2, thermosetting resin 13 is poured onto the upper surface, and a unidirectional reinforcing fiber sheet is laid on the resin 13. The reinforcing fiber sheet is supported on the upper surface of the slab at the ends of the sheet by anchor pins 14 and maintained in a stretched state, to thereby impregnate the resin into the sheet and adhere the sheet to the upper surface of the slab. The resin-impregnated fiber sheet is then cured to reinforce the slab. The resin used has a viscosity of 5,000 cP or less at 20.degree. C., a thixotropic index of 3 or less at 20.degree. C., and a glass transition point of 60.degree. C. or greater after hardening.
