  • Patent number: 8302198
Abstract: The system and method for enabling remote registry service security audits described herein may include scanning a network to construct a model or topology of the network. In particular, the model or topology of the network may include characteristics describing various devices in the network, which may be analyzed to determine whether a remote registry service has been enabled on the devices. For example, the security audits may include performing one or more credentialed policy scans to enable the remote registry service for certain devices that have disabled the remote registry service, auditing the devices in response to enabling the remote registry service, and then disabling the remote registry service on the devices. Thus, the system and method described herein may enable remotely scanning information contained in device registries during a security audit without exposing the device registries to malicious activity.

  • Patent number: 8300771
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for determining a state of loop termination. One embodiment comprises receiving an un-calibrated echo signal for the loop under test using frequency domain reflectometry single-ended line testing (FDR-SELT) and determining the state of loop termination based on phase of the un-calibrated echo signal. The step of determining the state of loop termination comprises determining whether the loop is terminated by an open termination or a short termination by correlating the phase of the echo signal with an expected phase of the echo signal derived from measurements taken at the same loop length for open and short terminations. For other embodiments, the amplitude of the un-calibrated echo signal is analyzed to determine whether the loop is terminated by a matched-impedance termination.

  • Patent number: 8301597
Abstract: The system and method described herein may use reverse path lookup to build mappings between file handles that represent network file system objects and full path names associated therewith and distinguish hard links between different file system objects having the same identifier with different parents or file names. The mappings and information distinguishing the hard links may then be cached to enable replicating changes to the file system. For example, a server may search the cached information using a file handle associated with a changed file system object to obtain the file name and full path name associated therewith. The server may then send the file name and full path name and metadata describing how the file system object was changed to a replica host, which may then replicate the change to the file system object.

  • Patent number: 8299472
Abstract: An imaging device formed as an active pixel array combining a CMOS fabrication process and a nanowire fabrication process. The pixels in the array may include a single or multiple photogates surrounding the nanowire. The photogates control the potential profile in the nanowire, allowing accumulation of photo-generated charges in the nanowire and transfer of the charges for signal readout. Each pixel may also include a readout circuit which may include a reset transistor, a charge transfer switch transistor, source follower amplifier, and pixel select transistor. A nanowire is generally structured as a vertical rod on the bulk semiconductor substrate to receive the light energy impinging onto the tip of the nanowire. The nanowire may be configured to function as either a photodetector or a waveguide configured to guild the light beam to the bulk substrate. In the embodiments herein, with the presence of the nanowire photogate and a substrate photogate, light of different wavelengths can be detected.

  • Patent number: 8294128
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a beam of electromagnetic radiation. The apparatus includes a plasma radiation source, a foil trap provided with a plurality of thin foils that extend substantially parallel to the direction of radiation from the plasma source, and a grid disposed between the plasma radiation source and the foil trap. A space is located between the grid and the foil trap. An electrical potential application circuit is constructed and arranged to apply an electrical potential to the grid so that the grid repels electrons emitted by the plasma radiation source and creates a positive space charge between the grid and the foil trap to deflect ions emitted by the plasma radiation source to the foil trap. A distance between the grid and the foil trap is at least equal to one-half of a radius of the foil trap.
