  • Patent number: 5261518
Abstract: A currency validator for testing both the magnetic and electrically conductive properties of a currency note in which core legs of magnetic and conductive material form spaced first and second gaps. Windings carried by the legs produce signals indicative of the magnetic property of a note moving across the first gap. A detector connected across the second gap indicates the presence of conductive material bridging the first gap.

  • Patent number: 5258128
Abstract: A method for removing filter cake from a pressure filter element for liquid solid mixtures comprising an outer casing, a removable lid for closing the outer casing, a tubular filter element which projects from the lid into the outer casing and on the outside of which the filter cake is deposited, a membrane which during operation folds back between the outer casing and the filter element, a pressure joint on the outer casing and inlet and outlet of a pressure medium, an inlet line which conveys the liquid-solid mixture into the space between the membrane and the filter element and an outlet line which conveys the filtrate from the interior of the filter element. In order to split off small pieces of the filter cake from the filter element, a gaseous pressure medium is admitted into the filter cake formed on the outside of the filter element for as long as the filter cake is still completely or partly surrounded by the fold back membrane.

  • Patent number: 5226181
Abstract: Apparatus for detachably securing a night vision goggle mount to a protective helmet visor housing in which the heads of a pair of upper fasteners carried by the mount are adapted to be inserted through the head receiving portions of a pair of upper keyhole slots in a base plate on the housing against the action of a leaf spring on the plate. When the shanks of the fasteners are moved into the lower head-retaining portions of the upper slots, the upper fastener heads are held by ears on the leaf spring to lock the mount. A releasing element on the base plate is adapted to be actuated to flex the spring to a position at which the spring ears are clear of the upper fastener heads to permit the mount to be removed. Preferably, a pair of lower fasteners having heads and a pair of corresponding lower keyhole slots are provided to insure stability and alignment of the night vision goggle mount.

  • Patent number: 5224721
Abstract: An improved walker in which a gate which is pivoted on one rear leg for movement from an open position to a closed position at which it engages a fitting carried by the other rear leg, supports a seat for pivotal movement from a raised inoperative position to a lowered operative position. An element operative in the lowered position of the seat prevents the gate from moving to an open position. Interengageable elements operative in the open position of the gate prevent the seat from being lowered.

  • Patent number: 5189447
Abstract: An integrated field eyewear system of modular construction to permit adaptation to a wide range of wearers and operating conditions. A bridge includes a brow bar formed with slots for alternatively receiving left and right plano lenses or lens frames formed with openings for receiving snap-in corrective lenses. The plano lenses and lens frames are in turn formed with sockets for alternatively receiving either temples or anchors for receiving a headband. Sunshade or laser-protective secondary lenses may be snapped into place over the primary lenses to afford necessary protection. The front consisting of the bridge and the selected viewing elements may be fitted together with a removable goggle frame between the front and the wearer's face. To facilitate their use with lens frames of fixed dimensions, the corrective lenses are formed with bevels conforming to the surface of a sphere of constant radius, even for lenses of different front curvatures.
