  • Patent number: 5698639
Abstract: The invention provides ethylene-propylene-diene rubbers capable of imparting excellent heat resistance, weather resistance and dynamic fatigue resistance to vulcanized rubbers made therefrom. The ethylene-propylene-diene rubbers have sulfur uniformly dispersed therein by mixing a solution of the sulfur with a solution of the ethylene-propylene-diene rubber prior to the addition of vulcanization accelerators or other rubber additives to the rubbers. The vulcanized rubbers are particularly suitable for use as automobile components which require dynamic fatigue resistance such as muffler hangers, belts, rubber vibration insulators, engine mounts, tire treads for pneumatic tires, sidewalls for pneumatic tires and white sidewalls.

  • Patent number: 5698154
Abstract: In charging a fluid molding material in an elastic molding die composed of a die body having an opening and a die support portion extending from the opening to the outside by pouring the molding material from the opening into time die body, the molding material in an amount of 1/5 to 3/5 of a volume of the die body is first charged, a molding material-charged portion of the die body is then crumpled or pinched, and then the entire die body is filled up with the molding material. The crumpling or pinching operation is achieved by such means as a blade shutter, pressing plates, air bags, or passing between two plates or conveyor belts, thereby charging the fluid molding material in the die body of the elastic-molding die without occurrence of air voids.

  • Patent number: 5692520
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a non-invasive method and apparatus for measuring arterial and venous blood flow in body appendages. The present invention is also directed to a non-invasive method and apparatus for measuring penile tumescence as a function of arterial and venous blood flow in the penis and penile rigidity as a function of suprasystolic intra-cavernosal pressure. These measurements are performed to make a diagnosis in the field of erectile dysfunctions. Since every normal adult male experiences erections during rapid eye movement sleep, the measurements are preferably made during the patient's sleep, but can also be performed when the patient is awake for diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract: Disclosed is a laminated film or sheet comprising poly-4-methyl-1-pentene laminated on a paper layer. By using poly-4-methyl-1-pentene having a low melting point, formation of cracks and other defects in the resin layer is prevented and the oil and fat impermeability is improved. If an intermediate layer of a specific polymer is formed in addition to the poly-4-methyl-1-pentene layer, the oil and fat impermeability is further improved. A box-shaped vessel (carton) and a release paper for an artificial leather can be prepared from this laminated film or sheet.
