    Abstract: Ultraviolet luminescent retroreflective sheeting includes a retroreflective portion containing retroreflective elements and an ultraviolet luminescent portion to facilitate nighttime viewing by persons not located at or near a source of light being retroreflected by the retroreflective portion. At least part of the ultraviolet luminescent portion is provided as the bonding lines for bonding the transparent cover sheet to the support sheet to form a series of sealed cells in which the retroreflective elements, which may be of the encapsulated lens-type or the encapsulated cube-corner-type, are disposed. The ultraviolet luminescenct portion includes fluorescent agent which emits light when irradiation by ultraviolet irradiation.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a polyethylene resin composition for heavy-duty packaging bag, which has a specific MFR, a specific density and a specific melt tension and which comprises (I) a linear low-density polyethylene resin prepared from ethylene and an .alpha.-olefin of 4 or more carbon atoms and having a specific MFR, a specific molecular weight distribution and a density of 0.900 to 0.918 g/cm.sup.3, (II) a linear medium or high-density polyethylene resin having a density of 0.935 to 0.970 g/cm.sup.3 and (III) a high-pressure low-density polyethylene resin having a density of 0.915 to 0.924 g/cm.sup.3, in a specific ratio of components. Also disclosed is a polyethylene resin film prepared from said composition. The composition is able to provide a film which is excellent in low-temperature properties such as low-temperature drop-bag strength and can be advantageously used for a heavy-duty packaging bag even in a cold district of below-freezing temperature.

    Abstract: The ethylene/.alpha.-olefin/nonconjugated polyene copolymer rubber composition of the present invention comprises in specified proportions a crystalline polyolefin resin (A) and an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin/nonconjugated polyene copolymer rubber (B) composed of ethylene, an .alpha.-olefin having 3 to 20 carbon atoms and a specific branched chain polyene compound. The molar ratio of ethylene units to .alpha.-olefin units, iodine value and intrinsic viscosity ?.eta.! of the ethylene/.alpha.-olefin/nonconjugated polyene copolymer rubber (B) are within respective specified ranges. This rubber composition is excellent in low temperature properties. When the above olefinic thermoplastic elastomer composition is partially or entirely crosslinked, a molding can be provided which is superior to the conventional vulcanized rubbers in low temperature properties, tensile strength, elongation at break and rubber properties.

    Abstract: The lithium ionic conducting glass thin film of the present invention comprises a glass containing 20 to 80 mol % of an Li.sub.2 O component. This glass thin film has a dense structure which shuts off gas and can be used as a solid electrolyte in a carbon dioxide sensor.The thin carbon dioxide sensor of the present invention comprises the above lithium ionic conducting glass thin film as a solid electrolyte. This sensor enables complete elimination of noise attributed to gas permeation by virtue of the lithium ionic conducting glass thin film having a dense structure with the result that the accuracy of carbon dioxide concentration measurement can be enhanced. Further, the lithium ionic conducting glass is formed into a thin film, so that the sensor has a low internal resistance, acts at low operating temperatures and exhibits a high response speed.

    Abstract: The molded articles of foamed particles, which are produced by using foamed particles composed of a polypropylene-based polymer, have had excellent cushioning characteristics and impact resilience, but have been not always satisfactory in stiffness such as compressive strength.The invention is directed to foamed particles comprising a polypropylene homopolymer as a base resin and having a tensile modulus of 15,000-25,000 kg/cm.sup.2 and a crystal structure that an inherent peak and a high-temperature peak appear as endothermic peaks on a DSC curve obtained by differential scanning calorimetry of the foamed particles. A quantity of heat at the high-temperature peak is 30-60 J/g.A molded article of foamed particles according to the invention is obtained by using the foamed particles as described above and molding them, and has a density of 0.01-0.3 g/cm.sup.3 and a tensile modulus of 15,000-25,000 kg/cm.sup.2.

The slaking process is automated and takes place under constant supervision, and the slaking device's regulating valves are controlled by respective, connected limit switches.
