  • Patent number: 5781966
Abstract: An cam adjusting device (30) comprises a first and second element sliding reciprocally and a cam (32) pivoted to the first element by means of a pivot (33) rotating around an axis (48) to react with one of its lateral surfaces (35, 38) against a bearing surface (34, 37) on the second element, upon rotation of the cam around the axis thereby achieving sliding and adjustment of the reciprocal position of the first and second element. The cam is shaped so that, for any angular position of the cam in its active stroke the centre of rotation of the cam is substantially in the region of a straight line (41) passing through a point (36) of contact between a lateral surface of the cam and a bearing surface of the second element, said straight line being slanted at an angle .phi. identical to the angle of friction in the point of contact. A cam meeting this condition has been found maximize the amplitude of the adjustment without encountering instability.

  • Patent number: 5737984
Abstract: The body section of the holder carries at one side a shaving tool bit and worm supporting roller, and is removably mounted at its opposite side on the slide section of the holder by a quick release pin, which is reciprocable in a bore in the slide section. A spring normally urges the inner end of the pin into an opening in the body section to prevent its removal from the slide section, but to permit limited floating movement of the body section relative to the slide section. The pin may be retracted manually to allow removal of the body section. The work supporting roller is also removably and adjustably mounted on the body section; and the slide section is adjustably supported on an adapter to be mounted thereby on a machine cross slide. Two sets of ball bearings are interposed between the body and slide sections to facilitate floating movement of the former on the latter.

  • Patent number: 5731536
Abstract: The device is designed to receive at its input the analog AC output signal of an electric guitar either directly from the guitar, its amplifier or a speaker. The incoming signal is fed to three series connected circuits which successively boost the bass and treble frequencies, and then reduce the signal level between the bass and treble peaks before applying the processed signal to an output circuit. A high frequency adder circuit connected in parallel with the three series connected circuits permits frequencies above a certain level (10 KHz) to be added back to the processed signal at the output circuit. One switch is operable in the bass boost circuit to introduce different resistance selectively to raise or lower the frequency center and gain of the circuit, and another switch at the input of the device is operable to add resistance when the input signal is from a speaker.
