Abstract: The invention relates to a perfected retractable needle safety syringe comprising a hollow cylinder, a needle holder, a needle and a piston with an operating stem, said stem exhibiting an axial hole wherein there are seated a retraction pre-loaded spring and an extractor element. The extractor element exhibits a recess or seat intended for interacting with the needle holder, and at the side opposite the needle holder, a projection or annular rib.
Abstract: The present invention refers to the use of extracts from selected and stabilized cell lines comprising phenylpropanoids with high anti-oxidant capacity having a verbascoside titre of between 20% and 90% and a chromophore-free fraction of between 80% and 10%, in human and veterinary medicine, and for nutritional and cosmetic purposes.

Abstract: A method and apparatus (10) for extracting energy from flowing fluids using a diffuser (11) which has side walls (14) formed from a series of aerofoil section members (15) with gaps (29) provided between the leading and trailing ends of the members (15) to allow introduction of fluid from outside of the diffuser (11) into the diffuser flow passage (16) such that increased energy can be extracted from the flowing fluid by a prime mover (20) located in the flow passage (16).
Abstract: A vent for a liquid dispenser includes a vent flange comprising a flange body. The vent body includes a vent wall on which the membrane is applied. The vent wall extends parallel to the geometric axis of the device so as to have a sufficiently large area available for applying the transpiratory membrane and at the same time to limit the space occupied radially by the flange.
Abstract: A smooth-bore barrel semi-automatic shotgun include a frame comprising a breech. A barrel is slidingly mounted on the frame relative to the breech. A slide-bolt assembly, which slides relative to the breech, is adapted to close the barrel. A friction spring opposes the barrel's sliding movement relative to the frame.
Abstract: A ski structure for use with a boat hull to support the hull above the water when the boat is underway, the ski structure comprising an air tight housing in the form of an inverted U-shaped shell and a floor which forms a main ski surface and which extends between opposite sides of the U-shaped shell. The ski structure also includes a pair of assist skies or glides positioned lower than the main ski surface which extend substantially the length of the shell and which are adapted to plane on the surface of the water.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for the local or remote authentication of an item, in particular a security document, with the help of a authenticating device, comprised in, connected to, or linked to mobile communication equipment. Said item carries a marking exhibiting a characteristic physical behavior in response to interrogating energy, such as electromagnetic radiation and/or electric or magnetic fields. Said marking may comprise physical and logical security elements, e.g. a barcode, or a characteristic particle or flake pattern, exhibiting a characteristic physical response.

Abstract: The invention discloses a device and a method for transferring a predeterminable, high-resolution magnetic design onto a document printed with a magnetic ink, in particular a magnetic optically variable ink. The device comprises a body of a composite permanent-magnetic material, having at least one flat or curved surface engraved with indicia corresponding to the design to be transferred, wherein the said magnetic material is permanently magnetized, preferably in a direction substantially perpendicular to the said surface. The method comprises imprinting or coating a first surface of a sheet or web with a magnetic ink or coating composition, and approaching the imprinted sheet or web to the engraved surface of a body of magnetized composite permanent-magnetic material while the ink is wet, followed by hardening the ink.

Abstract: A sock contains built-in cushions or spacers to correct or protect the toes, or to provide the wearer better comfort. The cushions or spacers may be retained between the toes in a tube, formed integrally with the sock, which is everted to a position between adjacent toes. A strap may also be built in to the sock, or into a shoe, shoe insert, boot, sandal or slipper to maintain a corrective force on the great toe.
Abstract: A brake disc of the type comprising a braking band, a connecting portion and connecting spokes made in a single piece. In said disc at least one spoke exhibits an active section reduction that is sufficient to prevent vibrations and whistling during the braking phase. The disc, according to the present invention, is not subject to vibrations and possesses a limited gyroscopic effect and mass.
Abstract: A nipple for baby bottles has a flattened nipple element with a recess which is pointed to the inside in its front end. In the bottom section of the recess there is a slit arrangement with arc-shaped slits which run in the bite direction.
Abstract: A mattress core unit, such as an innerspring, is placed inside a foam envelope, which in turn is covered with fabric. The side and end rails of the envelope overlap the bottom panel, to provide good support for all edges of the mattress. The top panel of the envelope overlaps the side and end rails. To make a reversible mattress, an overlapping bottom foam panel is used. The method simplifies matress construction, reduces the number of required stock keeping units, and provides a comfortable, yet firm, feel at the edges of the mattress.
