  • Patent number: 4019883
Abstract: A separator for removing sulfuric acid from a hot gas stream comprising a substantially cylindrical body having tangentially arranged inlet and outlet conduits to create a vortical flow path of the gas being treated, means being provided for adding cooling air to the gas, the inner surface of the body being provided with baffle means to cause a high degree of turbulence in the gases at the surface which is maintained at a temperature below that for condensation of sulfuric acid.

  • Patent number: 3977841
Abstract: Ductile ruthenium alloys are provided by mixing, by weight, about 70-80% ruthenium powder with about 20-30% of a pre-alloyed powder consisting essentially of cobalt, nickel, chromium, tungsten and silicon, the powders being of less than 200 mesh size, the mixture being blended with a binder to enable easy handling in pressing a green part using pressures of from about 35,000-50,000 psi followed by sintering in dry hydrogen or inert gas or in a vacuum, sintering temperature and time ranging from about 2150.degree. F to about 2250.degree. F for periods of from about 45 minutes to about 30 minutes, respectively.

  • Patent number: 3957451
Abstract: Ductile ruthenium alloys are provided by mixing, by weight, about 75-85% ruthenium powder with about 15-25% of a pre-alloyed powder consisting essentially of nickel, chromium, tungsten, silicon and iron, the powders being of less than 200 mesh size, the mixture being blended with a binder to enable easy handling in pressing a green part using pressures of from about 35,000-50,000 psi followed by sintering in dry hydrogen or inert gas or in a vacuum, sintering temperature and time ranging from about 2050.degree. to about 2150.degree. F for periods of from about 45 minutes to about 30 minutes, respectively.

  • Patent number: 3954672
Abstract: Cordierite refractory compositions made from a mixture of talc, clay, calcined kyanite, alumina and water, the composition being such as to result on firing in a body having cordierite as the major crystalline phase and mullite as the minor crystalline phase and wherein the amount of Na.sub.2 O and K.sub.2 O is not in excess of about 0.14% by weight of the batch dry materials, such compositions being suitable for making a catalyst substrate or support in the form of an extruded multi-tubular refractory body as well as other ceramic bodies such as turbine engine components, heat exchanger cores and furnace ware which have a requirement for high resistance to heat shock and low thermal expansion characteristics.
