Patent number: 8302364Abstract: A weatherproofing backer for installing windows and doors is described as having a foam layer and an adhesive layer. The adhesive is pressure-activated and is self-sealing about attaching hardware. The foam is self-setting and, in use, molds to the flange of the window unit. When installed, the foam layer is compressed between the inner window frame and rough opening and between the window flange and the wall surface adjacent the rough opening. The weatherproofing backer is designed to extend beyond the flange of the window unit and thereby receive the weatherproofing membrane thereover. The weatherproofing backer, then acts as a sealed bridge between the membrane and the window unit precluding entry of air and water. Both the foam and the adhesive have fire retardants in the formulation thereof. A tape form with a self-skinned foam layer and a sheet form, with polymeric covering web are provided.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2010Date of Patent: November 6, 2012Assignee: MiTek Holdings, Inc.Inventor: Ronald P. Patent number: 8287263Abstract: Disclosed herein is a machine for producing expanded-grain cakes. The machine includes a frame, a mold unit, a grain supply unit, a grain transfer unit, a mold pressure arm, a drive unit, an open cam, a control unit and a cover unit. A precise charge of cereal grain is metered at the grain supply unit and in synchronism with the mold open cycle, distributed evenly over the mold cavity. Then with the mold unit clamped closed, the charge is heated and, at the end of the baking cycle, a preform is produced with gases at high pressure entrained therewithin. Upon release from the mold, the preform expands to a grain cake of the desired size. The machine controls the thermal energy input, the cycle frequency, the size of the grain charge, and the ejection trajectory. Several interrupts are used to ensure conformance to the control parameters and to enhance operator safety.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2011Date of Patent: October 16, 2012Assignee: Coco International, Inc.Inventor: Yoon Sang Cho

Patent number: 8122663Abstract: Anchor and reinforcement devices for a cavity wall are disclosed. The devices are combined with interlocking veneer anchors, and with veneer reinforcements to form unique anchoring systems. All the components of the system are wire formatives, including therewithin truss or ladder reinforcements and the eye extensions. The wall anchor portion of the device is fusibly attached to the exterior of the truss or ladder reinforcement by various metalworking techniques. Beyond the portions of the wire formatives inserted in the backup wall, the wire formatives are optionally reduced in height by cold-working thereof. The combined wall anchor and reinforcement devices are compressively reduced in height for spanning insulation mounted on the exterior of the backup wall. The low-profile portions are disposed between thick strips of insulation and maintain the insulative integrity thereof by preventing air leakage.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2008Date of Patent: February 28, 2012Assignee: Mitek Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Ronald P.
