  • Patent number: 6044154
Abstract: A security system is disclosed, which system is for granting access to a host computer in response to a demand from a remote computer. The security system has a permanent encryption key mounted on the remote computer. The software portion of the system provides for the identification number associated with the permanent encryption key to be sent unencrypted to the host computer. Using the identification number the host computer selects an encryption device and encrypts a transitory encryption key generated by the host computer and transmits the transitory encryption key to the remote for emplacement on a write-only receptor in the permanent encryption key. Thereafter a comparator in the host computer, in response to encrypted identifying data transmitted from the remote computer and encrypted with said the transitory encryption key, authenticates the access demand.

  • Patent number: 5816008
Abstract: A brick veneer anchor for use in the construction of wall structures is described. The anchor has an L-shaped plate for attachment to a dry wall installation. The L-shaped plate attaches to the outer surface of the inner wythe and has a portion thereof extending beyond an insulative layer into and terminating within the cavity between the inner and outer wythes. An elongated slot in the dry wall anchor accepts a bent stay with one end interlocking with the elongated slot portion and the other end embedded within the outer wythe. The bent stay has a T-head portion with a length greater than the longitudinal axis of the slot. The bent stay also has a neck portion attached to T-head portion which forms shoulders on either side of the T-head portion. The dry wall anchor, upon attachment to the inner wythe, has one end of the bent stay inserted into the elongated slot and the other end of the bent stay embedded in the outer wythe.

  • Patent number: 5671578
Abstract: A seismic construction system is disclosed that includes a surface-mounted veneer anchor, a box tie member, and a facing anchor. The primary components of the veneer anchor is a wire formative providing closed loop, wire-to-wire connections between the formative and the box tie device. The veneer anchor has a baseplate with a wire formative attached thereto having elongated eye wire extensions. Each pair of eye wires accommodates the threading thereonto of a box tie through the open end of the box tie. The box tie is then positioned so that the open end is secured to the facing anchor and is embedded together with the facing anchor into the bed joint thereof. The facing anchor includes a seismic clip for accommodating a straight wire run and receiving the open end of the box tie. The facing anchor is embedded in a bed joint of the facing.

  • Patent number: 5634310
Abstract: A surface-mounted veneer anchor is disclosed. The anchoring system has a unique combination of a masonry anchor, a box tie member, and a facing anchor is provided. The primary components of the veneer anchor are wire formatives and provide a closed loop, wire-to-wire connections therebetween. In one embodiment, the inner wythe is constructed from a masonry block material, the masonry anchor has a baseplate with a wire formative attached thereto having elongated eye wire extensions. The elongated eye wires extend into the cavity between the wythes. Each pair of eye wires accommodates the threading thereonto of a box tie through the open end of the box tie. The box tie is then positioned so that the open end is utilizable as part of the facing anchor. The baseplate of the masonry anchor is surface-mounted onto the masonry block of the interior wythe.

  • Patent number: 5634719
Abstract: A cooking tool is disclosed which is a combination of a spatula for handling food and a boom-mounted probe having an indicator for checking temperature or doneness attained during cooking. The disclosure includes both a home and a fast-food restaurant embodiment of the tool. In both embodiments, the tool has a probe for measuring temperature mounted on a manually retractable boom, which probe is extendable over various sites of the food being checked. The boom is pivotally attached to the elongated arm of a spatula and by a scissor-like action is raised out of and lowered into the food. In the home model, the tool is provided with a temperature indicator in the form of a digital readout. In the fast-food restaurant model, the indicator provided is a GO/NO GO gauge and the probe and indicator fit in a quick-disconnect receptacle. In the latter model, a different gauge, when required for a specific application, may be substituted.

  • Patent number: 5615773
Abstract: A plurality of audio tape cassette cases are arranged in a stack and the stack is held together via several loop or pile fastener members attached to the stack. The arrangement is such that selected cases in the stack can be easily displaced from adjacent cases while maintaining the stacked relationship. A cover having engaging loop or pile fastener members attached thereto adheres to the stack via said engaging members. The cover is arranged so that the covered stack is easily transportable from one place to another, and the cover is easily removable from the stack.

  • Patent number: 5602742
Abstract: A postage management system is disclosed that enables the use of one of a plurality of carriers from any station in the network. The system imprints postage on postal and private courier parcels and envelopes. Each station of the system has a central processing unit (CPU), an operating system, and a user communications link with the CPU having an embedded software program therewithin. The software program has a permanent portion and a configurable portion, and the configurable portion, in turn, has a postage rate database, a postage service database, and a management program. The databases include on a carrier-by-carrier basis the postal costs for parcels and envelopes of various configurations and specifications for a various parcel and envelope configurations, respectively. The system software includes both user and system default parameter schemes enabling a user to predetermine common patterns of use and quickly employ a given modality.
