  • Patent number: 7392407
Abstract: The present invention provides a power negotiation protocol that enables PDs and PSEs to negotiate the amount of inline power that a PD consumes and the corresponding PSE provides. This power negotiation allows the PDs provide fine-grained power consumption level to PSEs, and the PSEs are able to manage inline power efficiently using the negotiation protocol of the present invention. The PDs can ask the PSEs for more power when needed rather than having to constantly reserve the maximum amount of power they can consume at all times. Similarly, the PDs can release reservation of excess power when their respective power requirements decrease. The PSEs can limit the amount of power that can be consumed by the PD, thereby providing the ability for an administrator to control how much power a given PD can consume.

  • Patent number: 7383300
Abstract: A server application program is disclosed that runs on a server and provides a client with multilingual support, but does not have a multilingual database on the server and does not need to access a remote multilingual database as the application program is running. The server application program, having at least one module written in an interpreted language, interacts with locally available language module files. These files contain extracts from multilingual databases, but are formatted to be read as variables containing text strings by the interpreter used in conjunction with the sever application module written in an interpreted language. This allows extremely fast and dynamic access to a set of multilingual text strings, providing multilingual support of an application on a server with significantly greater speed and versatility than previous designs.

  • Patent number: 7370362
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for locating and disabling the switch port of a rogue wireless access point. In one embodiment, a network management device is configured to detect the presence of a rogue access point on a managed wireless network. Once detected, the management device may then instruct a special client, such as a scanning AP, to associate with the rogue access point and send a discovery packet through the rogue access point to network management device. The network management device upon receiving the discovery packet may thereby determine that the rogue access point is connected to a network managed by said network device. The network device may then utilize information contained in the discovery packet to locate the switch port to which the rogue access point is connected, and ultimately disable the switch port to which the rogue access point is connected.
