  • Patent number: 6996634
Abstract: An operating system that provides for the capability to accept input from a number of devices, and transfer the data to the appropriate application without using an application to perform routing tasks, thus freeing up more processor time and memory space for the applications. The operating system includes data format translator applications that may be called by the operating system in order to convert the data to the proper format. The decision as to which data format translator application should be called may be made by using information on the input device which the data came from, as well additional information, to determine if a conversion application or other application is required.

  • Patent number: 6968337
Abstract: A system for determining an identity of a received work. The system receives audio data for an unknown work. The audio data is divided into segments. The system generates a signature of the unknown work from each of the segments. Reduced dimension signatures are then generated at least a portion of the signatures. The reduced dimension signatures are then compared to reduced dimensions signatures of known works that are stored in a database. A list of candidates of known works is generated from the comparison. The signatures of the unknown works are then compared to the signatures of the known works in the list of candidates. The unknown work is then identified as the known work having signatures matching within a threshold.

  • Patent number: 6967952
Abstract: Method and apparatus for providing a long loop broadband service which allows data from different ADSL users to be shared and transported across a group (possibly a group of one) of line-powered, repeatered copper pairs utilizing a symmetric transmission approach is disclosed. Multiple ADSL users are able to share the bandwidth on pair(s) between the Remote Terminal Unit and Central Termination Unit by converting the ADSL data into ATM cells that are properly addressed and sent over the pair(s). Straight-Through Repeaters can be used in between the Central Termination Unit and the Remote Termination Unit on each of the pairs to extend the reach of the system. In this manner, the reach of ADSL (or other) internet access can be increased from its present 15 to 18 kft limitation to over 40,000 feet using 26 gauge wire, effectively reaching over 99% of subscribers.
