Abstract: Method and apparatus for matching a selected color with predetermined available paint colors wherein a portable color meter is used to analyze a selected color and store chromaticity data representing the hue, chroma and brightness of the selected color. That stored chromaticity data is coupled to a computer which compares it with stored chromaticity data in the computer representing available color formulas and then selects one of the stored paint formulas most closely matching the chromaticity data representing the selected color.

Abstract: High purity silica powder formed from a sol-gel process is made from a quantity of an industrial grade hydrolizable silicon organometallic substance mixed with a quantity of an industrial grade organic solvent miscible in said organometallic substance and with a quantity of an acidified water having a pH less than 2 to form a solution. The solution is heated, then dried to form a gel, milled, and calcined to form the pure silica powder and the pure powder used to form encapsulated micro-miniature circuits.

Abstract: The invention comprises regenerative reactive articles having surfaces useful for decontamination comprising hydrohalide-polyhalides or quaternary halide-perhalide salts corresponding to the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is BR or I; n is an integer of about 5 to 1,000, R is H or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl radical; and the backbone polymer is in the form of a film or fabric. The invention also comprises the process of preparing the said reactive surfaces.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for improving the fuel economy and noxious emission levels of a gaseous fueled engine by the use of a combustion chamber in a flat topped piston which is smaller in area and deeper than the combustion chamber in a conventional piston. The chamber is offset from the central axis of the piston to cause the squish velocity of the combustion mixture to be high in the vicinity of an ignition device. Also, the chamber is non-circular in shape to create higher turbulence throughout the combustion region.

Abstract: An eye shield formed of inner and outer layers of soft fabric with a flexible sun blocking material located between the inner and outer sheets of fabric for blocking total sun rays including harmful ultraviolet rays and having a relatively thick layer of soft material located between the inner and outer sheets of fabric to provide body to the mask-like portion and comfort to the wearer. The eye shield also includes a relatively small sight opening formed in each eye member and a semi-opaque lens plate extending across the eye member sight openings for blocking harmful ultraviolet rays. The sight opening may be located below the center of each eye member in order to prevent light rays from impinging directly on the eye of the wearer. In addition, portions of the straps forming the eye shield may be formed of material substantially transparent to ultraviolet tanning light rays such that the skin of the user may tan in those areas thereby avoiding white strap marks.
Abstract: An electrosurgical knife includes a stainless steel blade whose surface is abraided or etched, a first coat of primer material applied over the blade, where the surface of the primer material is also abraided or etched, and a second coat of non-stick fluorinated hydrocarbon material applied over the coat of primer material to cover the primer material, for a total thickness of about three mils. The stainless steel blade is completely covered by the coatings but the thickness of the coatings is not so great as to prevent conduction of radio-frequency electrical energy from the blade through the coatings to tissue being cut.
