Abstract: Method and apparatus for edge location analysis preliminary to sewing on a separate computerized sewing apparatus including scanning an object to be sewn by moving it under a scanning assembly in accordance with a predetermined sewing path to provide true edge location data, comparing the true edge location data with the expected edge locations to determine any deviations, and sewing the object using the predetermined sewing path as modified by the true edge locations data.

Abstract: A miniature multiple electrical connector consists of a plug connector and a receptacle connector having an insulating block and a metal shell. The metal shell is fixed to the insulating block by fitting anchoring protrusions provided along both sides of the insulating block in anchoring apertures of fixing tongues provided on the metal shell. When the plug connector is being inserted into the receptacle connector, the metal shell of the receptacle connector is likely to be deformed by a metal shell of the plug connector. In order to prevent such a deformation of the metal shell, there is provided means for anchoring the center of the metal shell weakest in mechanical strength to the insulating block or means for preventing application of a force to the center of the metal shell when the plug connector is being inserted into the receptacle connector.

Abstract: A lock operated by the introduction of a coin into a chamber in the lock. A scanning member scans the size of the introduced coin. The scanning member includes at least one recess for receipt of a releasing member adapted to move into said recess to cause release of a locking member to permit removal thereof from the lock.

Abstract: A dispensing closure for directing the contents out of a container including a central body portion having a top surface and a substantially cylindrical imperforate peripheral wall. The closure also includes a spout body reciprocally mounted to the body portion having an inner periphery which cooperates with the peripheral wall of the body portion to form a variable opening between the spout body inner periphery and the peripheral wall to provide a closure position and a plurality of dispensing positions for dispensing the contents of the container at a plurality of different rates as the spout body is moved on the body portion away from the closed position.

Abstract: In a door and door frame construction the door is hinged to the frame by one or more hinged structures, each hinged structure comprising a convex-surfaced support associated with the door and a convex-surfaced support associated with the door frame, at least two resilient strip-like S-shaped hinge members passing partially round each support and together with the other member forming a letter x or figure 8 configuration as seen in a direction along the supports, respective means being provided fastening together the ends of the members alongside each support so that the members are tensioned round the supports, wherein towards the lower end of the construction each support is provided with a surface raised from the general surface of the support and in contact with the raised surface on the other support.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for determining the nature or property of a non-metallic material in which the material is passed through a time varying magnetic field. The signals which are induced in the sensing coil for the magnetic field are processed for measurement. Although the material is non-metallic, it may have sufficient conductivity at the frequencies employed to cause the flow of eddy-currents to generate a measurable signal. The method of the invention also provides for measurement of permittivity or diamagnetic properties of the material which may also give rise to small measurable signals.

Abstract: A video tape editing apparatus for use with first and second video playback devices and a video recording device allows effective editing of homemade video tapes which produces clean, professional transitions of the edit-points. The editing apparatus includes a fade control circuit having a fade selector switch for generating a fade-out control signal to shunt the composite video signal components in a video amplifier when the fade switch is in a first position and for generating a fade-in control signal to remove the shunting of the composite video signal components in the video amplifier when the fade switch is in a second position.

Abstract: An optical connector includes a cylindrical front body formed with a center bore having a front cylindrical bore, a rear cylindrical bore and a tapered bore therebetween. A fiber holding unit made of a flexible material is separable into two parts, whose mating surfaces are formed with grooves for holding an optical fiber and at front and rear portions with spacers for partially preventing contact between the mating surfaces in the proximity of the spacers. The two assembled parts form cylindrical outer surfaces at front and rear ends and a tapered outer surface between the cylindrical outer surfaces. The two assembled parts with the optical fiber interposed therebetween are able to be fitted in the front body from its rear end.

Abstract: An electrical connector includes a plug connector having a plug shell formed with a flange and a receptacle connector having a receptacle shell provided on its outer circumference with a fitting device. The electrical connector further includes a coupling ring surrounding the plug shell and rotatable and holding the flange of the plug shell. The coupling ring has on its inner circumference a fitting device fitted with the first mentioned fitting device and a flange urging portion for urging the flange, and a key provided between the receptacle shell and the plug shell for preventing relative rotation therebetween. The electrical connector includes at least one wave-shaped annular spring interposed between the flange and the flange urging portion and rotatable together with the coupling ring.

Abstract: An auxiliary package for a bath-pool, particularly for a sauna bath-pool, comprising a housing having a water inlet for receiving water from the bath-pool, a water exit for sending the water back to the bath-pool and a plurality of partition walls for dividing the interior of the housing into a plurality of chambers and forming a water passage therein, a water pump mounted in one of the chambers for sucking the water from the inlet and circulating the water through the passage to the bath-pool, an electric motor mounted in one of the chambers for driving the water pump capable of transfering the heat generated to the water flowing in the passage, a control box for controlling the electric motor, which is mounted watertight on the housing, and electric plug means adapted for connection to a power system for receiving electrical power.

Abstract: A non-marring drawing instrument includes a rolling member for supporting the body of the instrument on a drawing surface in spaced apart relation thereto. The rolling member is mounted on the body for movement between respective rolling and locked positions of the member projecting from the body. A resilient member constrains the rolling member in its rolling position, for rolling movement of the instrument on the drawing surface, and yields for movement of the rolling member into its locked position. Frictional braking structure, which may include the resilient member, engages the rolling member in its locked position, for immobilizing the instrument. Braking is accomplished by pressing the instrument body towards the drawing surface.

Abstract: A device for splicing paper webs for the manufacture of corrugated board. At least one pressing and redirecting roller is provided to receive the terminating web to be spliced from a web roll. Two clamping rollers, which function in an alternating manner, grasp the terminating web from the web roll. The clasping rollers are moveable from their initial positions to operating positions. A clamping beam, which functions in an alternating manner with one or the other clasping rollers, includes pressing faces disposed oppositely facing each other, there being one beam for each of the clasping rollers. Each clamping beam has a pressing face for pressing the web which runs across it. Two breaking beams alternatingly cooperate with the upper side of the clamping beam for one or the other clasping roller to bring the terminating web to rest. Two alternatingly functioning knives act to cut off the web which is played out.

Abstract: A modular metering instrument including one of a plurality of sensing probes or probe modules including identification and calibration information stored therein and a meter module which can identify the sensing probe when the sensing probe is connected thereto. The storage of calibration and identification information in the sensing probe allows the meter module to be utilized with any one of a number of sensing probes to sense different physical parameters. The sensing probe includes at least one sensor and related circuitry to generate a signal relating to the sensed parameter. The meter module analyzes and calibrates the signal and displays the measured parameter.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for measuring vividness by means of the light reflected from the surface of baked and fried goods. The adapter establishes a controlled environment for measuring the light reflected from such surfaces providing and interconnecting a controlled light source, a light sensor, providing a precise angle and precise distances between the light source and the surface and between the surface and the sensor. The measurements obtained by use of the invention define goods which fall within an acceptable range of vividness as it pertains to a consumer preferences.

Abstract: A device for the production of one-sided corrugated paperboard with two corrugated rollers which corrugate a paper sheet. A glue mechanism for applying glue onto the corrugated paper sheet has a glue applying roller cooperating with a corrugated roller, a glue dosing element and a glue container. A pressing roller presses a cover sheet against the coated, corrugated paper sheet. Chambers are constructed on both sides of the glue applying roller. The chambers are sealed off, with their first edges against the first corrugated roller or the pressing roller and, with their other edges, are sealed off against the glue mechanism. The chambers have connections for high pressure sources, in order to press, by means of high pressure the corrugated sheet against the corrugated roller. Both edges of the pressure chambers sealing off against the glue mechanism cooperate with surfaces of the glue mechanism which do not convey any glue to the corrugated roller.

Abstract: A steam condensate removal device, typically for return of steam condensate to a boiler, is provided. A receptacle attached to the steam condensate removal line contains a gasket-separator and a threaded condensate restriction nozzle therein and a cap attached thereto to form a chamber housing the gasket-separator and nozzle. Condensate passes from the steam line, through the nozzle into the chamber and then on to the boiler return line. The device incorporates within it features that prevent seizing of the nozzle or the cap.
