  • Patent number: 5869154
Abstract: Metal sparkles having one or more colors dispersed throughout a translucent resin at a concentration which eliminates the appearance of scratches and scuff marks on the resin surface. A pigment may be used in the translucent resin to yield a variety of decorative colors to create matching containers and utensils. The metal sparkle concentration in the translucent resin contains on an average 11/2%-3% metal sparkles by weight and 0.25%-1% color by weight. The sparkle concentration may be used at a letdown ratio of 4% resulting in a composition having an average of 0.06%-0.12% sparkles by weight and 0.01%-0.04% color by weight. The sparkles are random cuts of multi-colored aluminum having an average size of 1/64" (0.015) and are manufactured from the thinnest standard sheets of aluminum which are polished to a mirror-like surface of brilliant reflectivity.

  • Patent number: 5870075
Abstract: In an active matrix type liquid crystal display device, signal lines and scanning lines are crossed in a matrix form on a transparent substrate. A thin film transistor and a transparent pixel electrode are disposed at each intersecting portion. A liquid crystal is interposed between the transparent substrate and another transparent substrate. A central pixel electrode and a peripheral pixel electrode surrounding the central pixel electrode is arranged in each pixel region. When the pixel region has movement in a dynamic image display, after an electric field is applied to the liquid crystal by the peripheral pixel electrode, an electric field is applied to the liquid crystal by the central pixel electrode with a desired delay time.

  • Patent number: 5866932
Abstract: A silicon oxide film is formed to cover an island non-monocrystalline silicon region by plasma CVD using an organic silane having ethoxy groups (e.g., TEOS) and oxygen as raw materials, while hydrogen chloride or a chlorine-containing hydrocarbon (e.g., trichloroethylene) of a fluorine-containing gas is added to the plasma CVD atmosphere, preferably in an amount of from 0.01 to 1 mol % of the atmosphere so as to reduce the alkali elements from the silicon oxide film formed and to improve the reliability of the film. Prior to forming the silicon oxide film, the silicon region may be treated in a plasma atmosphere containing oxygen and hydrogen chloride or a chlorine-containing hydrocarbon. The silicon oxide film is obtained at low temperatures and this has high reliability usable as a gate-insulating film in a semiconductor device.

  • Patent number: 5859445
Abstract: An electro-optical device having a plurality of pixel electrodes, each with at least one thin film transistor. The channel region of the transistor is spoiled by an impurity such as oxygen, carbon, or nitrogen. • Patent number: 5852238
Abstract: A pulse-like heating is applied to a thin-film material having a high thermal conductivity such as a diamond thin film so that a response characteristic at this time is measured as a change in temperature of the thin film. The response characteristic reflects the thermal influence of the circumstance on the thin-film material, and depends, for example, on the flow rate of fluid. At this time, a sensor for obtaining an output depending on the fluid and the temperature of the fluid and a sensor for obtaining an output corresponding to the temperature of fluid are prepared to compare and process both the output with the result of obtaining an output which reflects the flow rate with accuracy not depending on the temperature.
