  • Patent number: 8203999
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of operating a communications network having a plurality of selfish users. Each selfish user may send messages to a destination node with the messages being forwarded through intermediate nodes of a mesh network. Each selfish user may accumulate a debt equal to the power saved by having messages forwarded through other nodes in the mesh network less the power consumed forwarding messages for other nodes in the mesh network. Each selfish user having greater than zero accumulated debt may be required to forward messages for other nodes.

  • Patent number: 8179282
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product are provided for automating the task of data collection and reduction for highway vehicle detector testing. To evaluate the performance of each detector under test, a set of detection data is accumulated concurrently from each of the detectors. This data consists, at a minimum, of the time of arrival of each vehicle as reported by each detector and a digitized video image of the vehicle at the position-compensated time of detection. The data reduction process allows for applying weighting coefficients to each detection result in the formation of a consensus. These coefficients may be either fixed or adaptively adjusted based upon the learned accuracy of each detector under test. A ground truth reference data set is then generated using the weighted consensus determined from the data generated by all detectors under test.

  • Patent number: 8161418
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating an informational media display on a document processing device. A document processing signal representing the status of a document processing operation on an associated document processing device is first received. Media content data and preference data corresponding to user-specified media content data is then received. Pre-selected media content data is then generated on a display of a user interface associated with the document processing device when the device is idle, as determined by the document processing status signal. Display of the pre-selected media content is then suspended when the document processing signal indicates that the document processing device is active. User-specified media data content is then generated on the display of the user interface when the received document processing signal corresponds to active status of the associated document processing device.
