Abstract: To facilitate managing his/her email through a Voice E-mail™ service, a user is allowed to select one or more sets of commands, with which he/she is familiar or prefers, to be emulated when the user interacts with the service. With this selection in place, when a user communicates with an information assistance provider to access the service, the user is identified and the email data and data concerning the selected commands associated with the user are retrieved. The user may then manage the email data using the selected commands during the service.

Abstract: Apparatus for a connecting point between high-voltage cables, each cable having a conductor, inner conductive layer, insulation, outer conductive layer, and a sheath over the outer conductive layer and in which the conductors, from which the surrounding layers have been removed, are conductively connected to one another. The arrangement has electrical screening elements and an integral elongated sleeve body, composed of elastic insulating material and a through-hole. The sleeve body has at its axial ends, which are intended for the cable to pass through, electrical control funnels which abut the outer conductive layers, from which the sheaths have been removed. The internal diameters of the through-hole in the sleeve body, at its axial ends, are for its use in a connecting point of cables, having an external diameter of their insulation which differs by at least 10 mm, different in a defined manner and adapted to the different external diameters.

Abstract: A method for laying a superconductor cable having a superconductive cable core and a cryostat enclosing the superconductive cable core, with the superconductive cable core being arranged freely mobile in the cryostat. The method includes cooling the superconductive cable core to the operating temperature after laying the superconductor cable, shortening the superconductive cable core relative to the cryostat, fixing the superconductive cable core at its ends; and mounting terminations on the ends of the cable core.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a carbon ribbon for covering in a thin layer of semiconductor material, and to a method of deposited such a layer on a substrate constituted by a carbon ribbon. At least one of the two faces of the carbon ribbon is for covering in a layer of semiconductor material by causing the ribbon to pass substantially vertically upwards through a bath of molten semiconductor material. According to the invention, the two edges of at least one of the two faces of the carbon ribbon project so as to form respective rims.

Abstract: An alcohol monitoring system for monitoring a driver of a car includes a vapor analyzer system for detecting the amount of alcohol in a driver operating the car. A speed controller is provided for setting the maximum speed of the car to a predetermined level in the event that the amount of alcohol detected in the driver is above a predetermined threshold. A cell phone is configured to automatically call a remote call center, in the event that the amount of the alcohol detected in the driver is above the predetermined threshold. Furthermore, a location system is configured to provide the location of the car to said remote call center. A mapping database in said remote call center is configured to provide nearest resting locations to said car so as to guide the driver to drive the car to any one of said locations.

Abstract: Telephone users desiring directory assistance services are connected via standard telephone procedures to a directory assistance provider, such as an operator. An operator provides the destination number and initiates a connection to that number. Once that connection is initiated, the connection is monitored for the occurrence of a predetermined condition, such as a busy signal. If no such condition is detected, the caller proceeds with the call in the normal manner. If, however, such a condition is detected, the caller is automatically transferred to a directory assistance provider for further help.

Abstract: When the format control circuit detects bit synchronization information in a sector to be reproduced on a magnetic disk, the format control circuit activates a read gate signal for commanding to read out the sector from the magnetic disk. When symbol synchronization information on the magnetic disk is detected, a SYNC detection circuit produces a synchronization information detection signal. The format control circuit calculates an end position of the sector on the magnetic disk on the basis of the synchronization information detection signal to inactivate the read gate signal. The data correction circuit and the decoding circuit reproduce data and ECC in the sector read out from the magnetic disk during the period that the read gate signal is active on the basis of the synchronization information detection signal to produce the data and ECC to a data bus.

Abstract: A density current baffle for use in a clarifier tank has a first baffle portion having a lower end, an upper end and an intermediate central portion. The lower end of the baffle portion is coupled to a side wall of the clarifier tank, the upper end of the baffle portion is disposed, at a predefined angle, away from the side wall of the clarifier tank such that the first baffle portion slopes upwardly and away from the side wall. The upper end is configured to receive a mounting bracket having a first end coupled to the end flange and a second end coupled to the side wall of the tank wall. The mounting bracket is a downwardly sloping panel member which together with the first baffle portion form a substantially closed baffle, so that solid materials may be prevented from building up behind the upwardly sloping central baffle portion.

An operator terminal displays a search screen among a plurality of search screens, each of which maintain at least a partially different arrangement of content and search windows for receiving search terms to search for listings contained in the first database, where the displayed search screen is determined based on criteria contained in a search request from the user. The operator terminal is further configured to receive the communication from the user and retrieve a listing from the first database using the displayed search screen.
