Abstract: A flow control system includes a pump positioned in a wellbore to remove liquid from the wellbore. An isolation device is positioned downhole of the pump and is expandable within the wellbore between a sealed position and an unsealed position. The isolation device in the sealed position substantially reduces gas flow at the pump during removal of the liquid.
Abstract: A solid-state image sensor comprises unit pixels each having a photoelectric conversion element for converting incident light into electric signal charge and then storing the signal charge obtained through such photoelectric conversion, an amplifying element for converting into an electric signal the signal charge stored in the photoelectric conversion element, and a select switch for selectively outputting the pixel signal from the amplifying element to a signal line. The image sensor further comprises a reset circuit in each of the unit pixels for resetting the photoelectric conversion element every time a pixel signal is outputted from the relevant unit pixel.

Abstract: A method of driving a solid-image-pickup device is provided. The driving method includes the steps of converting light incident on a plurality of pixels arranged in matrix form into an electric signal, selecting and controlling the pixels for each of rows and/or columns, and scanning the pixels in sequence, converting at least one analog signal obtained from at least one of the selected and controlled pixels into a first digital signal, the at least one pixel corresponding to a first group of rows and/or columns, and performing first counting for data on a result of the conversion, and converting at least one analog signal obtained from at least one of the selected and controlled pixels into a second digital signal, the at least one pixel corresponding to a second group of rows and/or columns, and performing second counting for data on a result of the conversion. A period where the first counting is performed is separate from a period where the second counting is performed.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between a first substrate and a second substrate; and a reflective display area on the first substrate side, the reflective display area being provided with a common electrode and a pixel electrode having a plurality of slits so as to apply an electric field to the liquid crystal layer, wherein between the first substrate and the pixel electrode, a reflective film and an interlayer insulating film, both films having projecting patterns on a front surface side, are arranged in this order from the first substrate side, and the pixel electrode and the common electrode are arranged so that electric field intensities between the pixel electrode and the common electrode are made equal in the reflective display area.
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to treatment of iron-related conditions with iron carbohydrate complexes. One aspect of the invention is a method of treatment of iron-related conditions with a single unit dosage of at least about 0.6 grams of elemental iron via an iron carbohydrate complex. The method generally employs iron carbohydrate complexes with nearly neutral pH, physiological osmolarity, and stable and non-immunogenic carbohydrate components so as to rapidly administer high single unit doses of iron intravenously to patients in need thereof.

Abstract: The invention provides method and compositions for the modulation of flavanone and/or isoflavone production in plants. The methods of the invention allow creation of plants having novel phenotypes. Increased expression of isoflavones in particular in plants may be used to increase the nutritional value of food plants for both human and animal consumption. The invention overcomes limitations of the prior art which prevented accumulation of high levels of isoflavones in plants.
