  • Patent number: 5944459
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for cutting a pocket in the upwardly facing surface of a conventional bagel while allowing a rim of the base material of the bagel to remain extending upwardly therearound to define the cup-shaped open-topped pocket. This pocket is then adapted to receive a filling therein which can be of any type of edible food stock such as eggs, egg salad, tuna salad, vegetables, meat, etc. The apparatus for forming the pocket includes a housing with a floor with a pedestal defining a platform in which the bagel sits. A plate is pivoted into contact with the bagel and compresses the bagel. A cutting aperture is defined in the plate to provide a template for cutting of the pocket out of the central portion of the upwardly facing surface of the bagel. A cutting then extends through the template or cutting aperture for forming the open-topped cup-shaped pocket.

  • Patent number: 5934563
Abstract: A device for dispensing water for play and amusement which can have the configuration thereof modified in order to spray many different types of patterns of water outwardly therefrom which includes a base member with a base conduit extending therethrough with optionally oppositely directed flow patterns for base stability and a rotatable coupling secured to the outlet of the base conduit for receiving water and for allowing rotation of a rotatable spray head assembly which is attached to said rotatable coupling. The rotatable spray head which is movable about an axis of rotation includes one or more spray section members having spray nozzle outlets which can have the outward direction of water dispensed therefrom to be controlled in such a manner as to vary the speed of rotation of the rotatable spray head assembly as well as to vary the pattern of water emitted therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5898488
Abstract: The apparatus of the present invention provides a means for candling eggs and providing trays of eggs filled with candled eggs and includes a provision wherein infertile eggs are removed from trays of fertile eggs and are replaced with fertile eggs in order to supply a complete array of fertile eggs within the tray. The apparatus includes a conveying means removing trays of eggs from an infeed station to an outfeed station. The trays of eggs supplied at the outfeed station preferably are completely filled with fertile eggs only and usually will be supplied to a processing station such as for inoculation. The apparatus includes four stations with candling performed at the first station by a video camera with infertile eggs moved to an exit hopper at a second station thereadjacent.

  • Patent number: 5895160
Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating the manufacture of various different configurations of marking instruments which utilizes a uniquely configured nib holder which includes a media transfer channel therethrough along with a nib mounting ring and securement prong or finger apparatus for facilitating the mounting and retaining of a marking nib therewithin. A conventional marker barrel being generally tubular with end openings is included which can be used for forming either single or double ended marking pens which share a common marking media reservoir or have different media used therewith. The nib mounting ring of the nib holder is designed to orient the nib centrally within the media transfer channel at the nib holder and the securement prongs are adapted to abut and grip the nib holder for retaining in position therethrough and preferably in abutment with respect to a conventional generally fibrous marking media reservoir.

  • Patent number: 5807065
Abstract: An apparatus for providing an automated device for removing horizontal members such as lid members from a vertical stack thereof one at a time for processing such as refurbishing, cleaning or sanitizing thereof. A carriage assembly is movably guided by a carriage guide plate between a pick-up position adjacent a lid stack for movement thereof one at a time to a releasing position for refurbishing. The carriage assembly includes a carriage frame defining a vacuum chamber therein connected through fluid flow communication to a source of vacuum and a source of high pressure blowback air. Pick-up outlets are defined in the carriage frame and include vacuum cups thereon to facilitate applying suction adjacent to a single lid for lifting thereof by the carriage assembly and movement from the pick-up position to the releasing position. A stack securement device is also provided for clamping the remaining portion of the stack as a single lid is removed from the top of the stack by vacuum.
