Abstract: Adhesive tape for flying reel change in paper finishing machines or the like, having a paper backing and a water-soluble self-adhesive composition, characterized in that the paper backing (2) is coated on one side with a water-soluble self-adhesive composition (3) while part of the reverse side of the paper backing (2) is provided with a double-sided adhesive tape (6), which in turn has a readily splicing paper backing (7) which is provided on both sides with water-soluble self-adhesive composition (8 and 9 respectively).
Abstract: The method of producing luminescent bacteria is based on the transfer of genetic information for biological luminescence to obligate chemolithoautotrophic nitrifying microorganisms. In particular, luciferase DNA or a luciferase-beta-galactosidase transcription fusion is transferred into ammonia-oxidizing bacteria with the aid of plasmid- or transposon vector systems. The bioluminescent nitrification microorganisms, particularly Nitrosomonas strains modified by genetic engineering, are used in order to identify specific inhibitors during nitrification processes, the viability of these microorganisms being determined by measuring the decrease in luminescence. A particularly important application is that inhibitors in a nitrifying biological sewage treatment plant can be detected in this manner.
Abstract: Flow controls that can be inserted in a liquid-supply line or in the accommodating bore of a plumbing fitting. The controls have an essentially cup-shaped mount with perforations through its bottom and a disk of resilient material fits into the perforations. At least the edge of the side of the disk facing the bottom of the cup has a conical bevel of 1.degree. to 5.degree. to the midplane of the disk and narrow ribs and/or sector-shaped webs that extend out essential radially at a prescribed angle around a prescribed circumferential angle.
Abstract: A centrifuge drum and a method of filling an automatically discharging centrifuge drum with a mixture of liquids that is to be separated. The mixture is introduced through an intake pipe and a header. The header's intake section communicates with a stack of disks through openings in the header's base. The base is provided with radial supply channels. Channels at the center of the stack divert the separated lighter liquid phase into a diversion chamber and channels at the periphery of the stack divert the separated heavier liquid phase into another diversion chamber. The drum is charged with an auxiliary liquid obtained from a lower section of the base up to a radially inward level that covers the intake openings into the supply channel in an upper section of the base of the foot. The mixture is then introduced at full power through both sections of the base.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling heating cables wherein a plurality of two-conductor heating cables are disposed in contact with heatable vessels to heat the vessels. Power lines having at least two conductors are connected to the heating cables through a plurality of first switches. Each first switch is responsive to a control signal for selectively connecting and disconnecting one heating cable to and from the power lines. Each of a plurality of remote terminals is connected to the two conductors of a heating cable and detects the temperature of the heatable vessel heated by the heating cable. At least one main controller for controlling a plurality of first switches is connected to two of the power line conductors. Temperature data relating to temperatures detected by the temperature sensors is transmitted from the remote terminals over the heating cables and the power lines by spread spectrum data transmission to the main controller.

The high-carbon material may for instance be activated carbon, activated coke or lignite coke. As inert material there may for instance be used siliceous rock, pumice, lava, slag, vitrification residues or fine gravel.
