  • Patent number: 8019448
Abstract: The vibrations of a second table supported on a first table that is movable in one horizontal direction can be controlled. A stage device includes an XY axis table movable in the X-direction, a Z-axis table supported by a support portion on the XY axis table, a pair of scales that are arranged apart from each other in the X-direction and detect the Z-direction velocity on the Z-axis table, a pair of motors that are arranged apart from each other in the X-direction and drive the Z-axis table in a vertical direction on the Z-axis-table, and a controller controls the drives of the motors based on the Z-direction velocity detected, in which the behavior of pitching vibrations in the Z-axis table is determined by detecting the Z-direction velocity with the scales, and the motors are driven and then the Z-axis table is rotated in a pitching direction so that the pitching vibrations are cancelled.

  • Patent number: 8015687
Abstract: A method is disclosed comprising providing a self-expandable stent having a polymeric component. The stent is exposed to a relative humidity of 20% to 100% (RH) or a plasticizing agent is applied to the polymeric component. The diameter of the stent is reduced. The stent having a reduced diameter is inserted in a constraining sheath such that the sheath constrains the stent in a reduced diameter, such that removal of the stent from the sheath causes the stent to self-expand to a greater diameter.

  • Patent number: 8019475
Abstract: A routing apparatus includes a sensor unit which has capabilities to detect an object in a target field of view and measure position of the object, and an electronic control unit which controls movements of the autonomous mobile unit. An electronic control unit determines velocity and a travel direction of the object based on changes in the position of the object obtained from the sensor unit over a plurality of measurement cycles, determines a path of the autonomous mobile unit so as to avoid collision with the object based on the position, the velocity, and the travel direction of the object, and determines the path of the autonomous mobile unit by setting the velocity of the object to a value equal to or lower than a predetermined value if the object recognized in the previous measurement cycle is not recognized in the current measurement cycle.

  • Patent number: 8014336
Abstract: Minimization of delay due to automatic repeat requests in a multi-hop communication system can be accomplished to optimize the performance of delay-constrained applications such as voice over internet protocol (VoIP). The protocol described with relation to such embodiments can reduce the possible retransmissions to the first hop (the hop connecting a mobile node to a relay node). Thus, certain embodiments of the present invention can protect the most error-prone link while reducing the overall delay experienced by the user.

  • Patent number: 8014812
Abstract: In a method for communication between a first station (BS1) and a second station (MS1) the first station may provide the second station with information associated with the manner how the second station should transmit towards the first station. The second station (MS1) may then transmit e.g. a response to a message from the first station (BS1) based on said information. That is, the second station (MS1) may e.g. use a specific transmission parameter for the transmission instead of transmitting in a manner the second station would have transmitted had it not been provided with said information. A communication system and stations for the communication system embodying the method are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8014901
Abstract: In a mobile robot control system, it is configured such that the robot generates time-series data sequentially at a predetermined time interval and transmits them to the external terminal, and the external terminal receives the transmitted time-series data and adds them to the motion command, such that the motion of the robot is determined based on the generated time-series data and the time-series data added to the motion command. With this, it becomes possible to prevent the robot from suddenly starting to move at the time when the communication between the external terminal which is a transmitting source of the motion command and the robot has recovered from disconnection, thereby enabling to avoid making the operator feel unnatural.
