  • Patent number: 8303644
Abstract: Polymeric stents having fracture toughness and resistance to recoil after deployment are disclosed along with methods of manufacturing such stents. Improvements to mechanical characteristics and other improvements may be achieved by having polymer chains within individual stent struts oriented in a direction that is closer to or in line with the axis of the individual stent struts. The struts are connected to each other by hinge elements that are configured to bend during crimping and deployment of the stent. The hinge elements may be tangent or non-tangent to the adjoining struts so as to form W-shaped closed cells arranged in an offset brick pattern in which the size each W-shaped closed cell can be defined in part by a curvilinear length that is approximately 4.5 mm, which allows the stent to be crimped down to an OD of about 1.3 mm and expanded to an OD of at least about 3.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 8303222
Abstract: A fastening body structure having a screw member which uses a module screw having a countersunk head and a washer made of a shape memory alloy. With this structure, the washer does not expand even if subjected to large fastening force and the washer can be easily removed when the screw fastening is released. The fastening body structure fastens and fixes a desired part to the installation section by using the screw member having the module screw and the washer. The module screw has a male screw used as a pair with a female screw thread section formed in the installation section. The washer has an inner diameter corresponding to the module screw. An irregular surface section is formed on a slope surface at the lower part of the head of the module screw or on the surface of the washer that makes contact with the screw.

  • Patent number: 8303651
Abstract: A stent for delivery of a therapeutic agent is disclosed. The stent includes a polymer coating for reducing the rate of release of the therapeutic agent. The polymer has a crystalline structure wherein the polymer is capable of significantly maintaining the crystalline lattice structure while the therapeutic agent is released from the stent such that the aqueous environment to which the stent is exposed subsequent to the implantation of the stent does not significantly convert the crystalline lattice structure of the polymer to an amorphous structure.

  • Patent number: 8306714
Abstract: A start permission decision section issues a start permission when an engine speed and a throttle valve opening become higher than predetermined values. A clutch-torque capacity storage section stores a clutch-torque capacity reference map in which a clutch-torque capacity is set as a function of at least the engine speed or as a function of the engine speed and the throttle valve opening. A clutch-torque capacity correction section corrects the clutch-torque capacity reference map so that the clutch-torque capacity is proportionally reduced in response to the difference between the engine speed and a start permission speed when a start permission is issued. An oil pressure controlling section connects the clutch with the clutch-torque capacity obtained in accordance with the corrected clutch-torque capacity map to start the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8299780
Abstract: The present invention discloses a hand and press-button dual-way manual pulse generator with built-in indicator lamps, which comprises a rotation pulse input unit and a CPU. The CPU is connected with a forward rotation indicator lamp and an inverse rotation indicator lamp. The rotation signal input unit and/or the press-button signal input unit transmit the output signal to the CPU. The rotation pulse input unit transmits the output signal to the CPU where the output signal is processed and the control signal is then output through the difference chip. Meanwhile, the CPU collects control signals through the feedback circuit to realize self-check when the machine is turned on. The pulse generator has a non-contact structure extending significantly its service life than the prior art, which makes it durable.

  • Patent number: 8298607
Abstract: A method for electrostatic coating of medical devices such as stents and balloons is described. The method includes applying a composition to a polymeric component of a medical device which has little or no conductivity. The polymeric component could be a material from which the body or a strut of the stent is made or could be a polymeric coating pre-applied on the stent. The polymeric component could be the balloon wall. A charge can then be applied to the polymeric component or the polymeric component can be grounded. Charged particles of drugs, polymers, biobeneficial agents, or any combination of these can then be electrostatically deposited on the medical device or the coating on the medical device. One example of the composition is iodine, iodine, iodide, iodate, a complex or salt thereof which can also impart imaging capabilities to the medical device.
