  • Patent number: 5743146
Abstract: The locking device for locking of two relative to each other longitudinally moveable elements comprises an electromagnet including a magnetic yoke, an operating winding and a magnet armature. The operating winding and magnetic yoke are positionally fixed on the first element, while the magnet armature is fixed on the second element in respect to the longitudinal movement direction X. The magnet armature presses with one of its walls via a spring device against an opposing wall of the magnetic yoke. The walls of the magnet armature and magnetic yoke which lie opposed to each other are provided with an at least approximately form fitting register contour, so that magnet armature and magnetic yoke can be held in a locked position with respect to each other. For locking, the electromagnet is activated in the register position. Upon application of a predetermined amount of force in the longitudinal direction upon the first or second element the locking position can be release or disengaged.

  • Patent number: 5733305
Abstract: In order to stimulate the formation of new tissues in extensive and deep wounds, the tissues are eased by exerting a traction force on the tissue with a vertical force component in relation to the plane of the wound. If the wound is vacuum sealed by a plastic foil (F), traction may be exerted through the foil (F). If a distractor that acts in the plane of the wound is set at the wound edges, the vertical traction component may be exerted on the edges of the wound by this distractor. The vertical traction component is generated through turnbuckles (70).

  • Patent number: 5727440
Abstract: A gas spring element or gas cylinder element, particularly suitable for presses for non-cutting forming, including a closed non-compressible fluid system which includes the ring space between the piston or as the case may be piston rod and the cylinder or as the case may be cylinder head, wherein manipulation of the flow of fluid, which results from displacement movement of the piston, is used to hold the piston in the extended position and also to initiate release the piston rod, optionally including rate of return of the piston. Therewith there is achieved a complete timewise decoupling of the return stroke movement of a press ram and a piston rod.

  • Patent number: 5697328
Abstract: A new and improved therapeutic collar for birds comprising, in combination, an sheet formed in a rectangular configuration having a first vertical end edge, a second vertical end edge, an upper horizontal end edge, a lower horizontal end edge, a front face and a rear face. The sheet has a linear width and height. The linear width being between 1.8 and 3.0 times the height. The sheet is formed into a cylindrical configuration when the first vertical end edges and the second vertical end edge are overlapped and coupled with a fastener means at opposite end edges. The end edges are releasable coupled therebetween. The sheet is resilient in its circumference when formed in a cylinder but sufficiently rigid with a high-beam strength to preclude bending of the sheet in the direction of the axis of the cylinder. A fabric covers the circumference of the sheet for softness of contact between the collar and the neck of a bird to which it is applied.

  • Patent number: 5697768
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed which reduces or removes axial loads on the drive string of a rotary downhole pump, i.e. tensile loads due to the hydrostatic load of the pumped liquid on the pump rotor, and/or at least part of the weight of the drive string, or thrust loads caused during pressurized fluid injection operations by backpressure of injected fluid on the pump rotor. This substantially prevents drive string/production tubing friction, wear and/or buckle in downhole rotary pumping arrangements operated in straight or curved well bores. When used in connection with fluid production pumping arrangements, the apparatus reduces the friction between the drive string and the production tubing of a downhole rotary pump for the pumping of well fluids which pump has a pump rotor connected to the drive string and is operated in a well bore. When used in connection with fluid injection pumping arrangements, the apparatus prevents drive string buckle, especially in curved well bore situations.
