  • Patent number: 6401355
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing calendered paper in which the paper is calendered after drying. The paper is dried (D) sown to a moisture lower that the target moisture of calendering. The paper is run via wetting (1) to calendering, wherein at least one of the surface layer of the paper is wetted in the wetting in such that the moistening water is absorbed in the surface layer of the paper while at lest the central part remains substantially dry. From the paper wetted at least on one of its sides, gradient paper is manufactured by means of gradient calendering by restricting the paper-molding effect of the calender to the wetted surface layer in such a way that at least the paper is elastically restored substantially in its original state, whereafter the obtained gradient paper is reeled.

Abstract: A modular plug including a housing made of dielectric material including a plurality of parallel, spaced, longitudinally extending terminal-receiving slots at a forward end and a longitudinal cavity extending from a rear face thereof forward. Each terminal-receiving slot receives a respective terminal blade. The plug also includes a load bar assembly which is inserted into the cavity and includes a load bar housing defining conductor-receiving channels in substantially parallel rows or levels arranged such that each level receives at least one pair of conductors, preferably a pair of conductors which operatively forming a circuit during use. Preferably, the channels adapted to receive the conductors forming conductor pair #1, conductors 4 and 5 according to a standard convention, and the channels adapted to receive the conductors forming conductor pair #3, conductors 3 and 6, are situated in levels distant from one another to thereby reduce crosstalk between these conductor pairs.

  • Patent number: 6397739
Abstract: A calendering method and calender in which a web material is passed through a calender, the calender nip being defined between a heatable hard roll and an endless, flexible and substantially non-compressible calendering belt. The heatable roll is heated in order to plasticize the surface layer of the web and the web is brought into contact with the heatable roll before the calendering of the web. After the preliminary contact of the web with the heatable roll a press treatment proper is applied to the web to be calendered in two stages. First a deformation is produced in the web in a press stage, after that the deformation that was produced is allowed to be reversed partially in a reversing stage and then a new deformation is produced in the web by pressing the web again in a finishing stage.

  • Patent number: 6398777
Abstract: A method is disclosed for treating blood vessels using endovascular techniques to deliver laser energy. Percutaneous access into the vein lumen will be obtained using an angiocatheter through which a fiber optic line will be introduced. The vein will be emptied of blood using elevation of the limb, patient positioning, compression, or other means. Laser energy will be delivered into the vein lumen using wavelengths from about 532 nanometers to about 1064 nanometers. Sufficient power and duration will be used to damage the entire thickness of the vein wall, ultimately causing fibrosis of the treated blood vessel. Fibrosis of the treated blood vessel causes the blood vessel to decrease in diameter or collapse.
