  • Patent number: 6379227
Abstract: An abrasive-band grinding device for rolls and method for grinding rolls in which a motor rotates an abrasive band such that the abrasive band is pressed against the face of the roll to be ground. Guide pulleys are arranged in a loop of the abrasive band and, between the guide pulleys, a rotatable contact pulley is arranged over which the abrasive band is pressed against the face to be ground. The contact pulley is controlled by an actuator, preferably a motor, so that it can be inclined in relation to the roll face to be ground.

  • Patent number: 6378679
Abstract: The invention concerns a clutch (10), comprising a clutch disk (22) connected with a first shaft (A) and a brake device (17) connected with a second shaft (B). By means of the brake cylinder (19) of the brake device (17), the brake pad (18) can be coupled into engagement with the clutch disk (22), in which case a movement of rotation between the shafts (A and B) is prevented. In the solution of equipment, between the shaft (A) and the shaft (B), there is a support bearing (21), which supports the movement of rotation between the shafts (A and B) when the clutch is supposed to slip. According to the invention, in the pressure line (59), there is a holding pressure maintained by means of accumulators (100), which holding pressure determines the torque at which the clutch slips.

  • Patent number: 6370953
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for balancing a cylinder, roll, or equivalent part, with a thin mantle, by which deviations in the circumferential deflection line of the mantle can be compensated in order to correct for dynamic runout. Errors in the circumferential deflection line are measured and dynamic runout is determined. Locations and magnitudes of any counterweights necessary for balancing are determined based on deformations and dynamic runout arising from deviations in the deflection line of the mantle. Counterweights are fixed to the inner face of the mantle of the cylinder, roll or equivalent part at positions determined from measurements.

  • Patent number: 6368462
Abstract: The invention relates to a headbox (10) for a paper/boardmaking machine. The headbox (10) including a stock flow header (11) and, following the stock flow header, a piping system such as an inlet pipe manifold, and/or a turbulence generator (14) and a tapered slice (15), wherefrom the stock is passed onto the forming wire (H1). The construction of said headbox further includes a flow header (J) for a dilution liquid the flow header having connected thereto an inlet channel (S1), a return pipe (S2) and outlet channels (D1, D2, D3, . . . ) that are distributed over the full length of said flow channel for passing the dilution water to control valves (V1, V2, . . . ) and, therefrom, further to different points along the cross-machine width of the headbox so as to mix with the stock delivered from the stock flow header (11) in order to control the consistency of the stock to a desired value, thus accomplishing the control of the web basis weight profile in cross-machine direction over the headbox.
