  • Patent number: 4581894
Abstract: A hydraulic apparatus for converting hydraulic pressure into mechanical movement for operating a tool or other device, operated by a pump block having a bore therein and a moveable plunger disposed within said bore. A cylinder is disposed over the pump block. The cylinder is captively held over the pump block and is moveable with respect thereto along the common axis. A fluid reservoir is defined between the cylinder and the pump block, and contains the hydraulic fluid. The plunger is operated by a pair of moveable arms secured to the apparatus and causes pressure to build in the fluid in an inlet chamber which communicates between the pump block and the cylinder. A pressure control valve is mounted adjacent the pump block and limits the hydraulic pressure which may be applied in the system. A release valve and apparatus is provided for releasing the hydraulic pressure and returning it to the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4582373
Abstract: An expansion terminal connector for providing means for accommodating the expansion and contraction of an elongated tubular bus comprising a pair of identical collars having circular openings therein; a pair of elongated flexible straps placed over and adjacent the collars, and adapters placed over the straps and adjacent the collars such that the adapters may be welded to the collars thereby securing the straps to the collars. A guide body is inserted through one of the circular openings in the collar, the guide body having at one end a tongue having openings therein for mounting to a substation assembly, and at the other end a guide for supporting the tubular bus. Intermediate the ends the guide body has a flat circular portion designed to correspond to the diameter of the circular opening in the collar. The circular portion of the guide body is welded to the collar to form a secure connection between the guide body and the collar.

  • Patent number: 4560130
Abstract: A track bolt assembly for use in a medical application for supporting medical utility items on a track in a medical wall. The track bolt assembly comprises a bolt having a nut threaded thereon, said bolt having an opening at one end and a spring inserted in the opening. A compression pin adjacent the spring is held in the opening in the bolt by virtue of a threaded plug. The threaded plug having opening through which the pin projects to allow depression of the spring within the bolt opening. A support panel is disposed between the nut and a retaining member, said support panel designed to hold a utility item for medical purposes. The retaining member designed to interact with a rectangular shaped elongated track assembly such that when the retaining member is parallel to the track assembly the entire track bolt assembly and utility item may be mounted onto the medical wall or removed from the medical wall.

  • Patent number: 4545286
Abstract: This disclosure depicts a novel apparatus for providing protection to armored personnel carriers such as tanks, or other military vehicles. The invention comprises a series of rectangular armor plates mounted to the surface area of the vehicle. The armor plates adjacent one another and each plate is secured to the tank surface by a threaded fastener. The threaded fasteners maintain the plates a predetermined distance from the tank surface and maintains the plates in a substantially parallel relationship to the surface of the tank wall. Each plate has three separate tiles adhered together, one tile comprising a steel material, one tile a soft material and one tile a thermally dissipating ceramic. The means for mounting the plates to the tank surface are designed such that the energy required to break the threaded fastener upon impact by a projectile is less than the energy required for the projectile to penetrate the plate.

  • Patent number: 4522403
Abstract: A balance toy in the form of a body having a top portion, a bottom portion and a plurality of sections therebetween. The intermediate sections are rotatable with respect to each other about a common axis in the form of an elongated rod connecting the top and bottom portions. At least some of the sections are provided with a weighted portion spaced from the axis. The toy will be tilted unless the weighted portions are arranged so as to counterbalance each other.

  • Patent number: 4477076
Abstract: A football blocking device for training defensive linemen to react to the snap of a football and to charging offensive linemen, wherein the device comprises at least one blocking dummy and a ball object positioned adjacent the blocking dummy. The ball object is moveable rearwardly and the blocking dummy is moveable from a set position forwardly and downwardly to a blocking position to thereby simultaneously simulate the snap of a football and the charge of an offensive lineman. The device optionally includes a mechanism for turning the blocking dummy while it moves forwardly and downwardly to simulate a charging offensive lineman who is also turning.
