  • Patent number: 6639190
Abstract: Liquid crystals compositions designed to turn red or orange and remain red or orange at or above a specified temperature, such as 115 degrees Fahrenheit, are shaped in the outline of the word “HOT” and are embedded on the top surface of the heating element of stoves or on the window surface of wall ovens and toaster ovens so that they glow red or orange and instantly alert anyone that the heat element of the stove or the window is too hot to touch. For use on smooth cooktop stoves, including warming trays, the liquid crystal display is embedded in a top surface of the smooth area of glass or metal that forms the beating element of the stove. For wall ovens and toaster ovens, the liquid crystals are embedded in the vertical window surface. A versatile heat alert safety device is removably attachable to any hot surface whether flat or rounded.

  • Patent number: 6612410
Abstract: A powerful high frequency shock absorber/accelerator uses compressed air but maintains a substantially uniform level of force throughout retraction and extension strokes. A piston moving in an inner chamber compresses gas in the chamber. Initially, an aperture allows compressed gas to be pushed to an outer storage chamber surrounding the inner chamber. As the piston moves further, sealing structure seals gas coming through the aperture thereby isolating the compressed air in the outer chamber from the inner chamber. At the end of the retraction stroke the small amount of remaining air is vented to outside and the piston faces a small counterforce-generating member. When the extension stroke is initiated the counterforce-generating member moves the piston a small distance until the seal is broken. The force of the compressed air rushing back into the inner chamber drives the extension stroke. Additional embodiments include replacing outer chamber with external source of gas.

  • Patent number: 6601577
Abstract: A container assembly having a generally cylindrical container for warming beverages includes a flexible closed bottom, a lower compartment and a water compartment. A generally U-shaped cup that holds beverage and has a cover has an upper portion that fits snugly with an upper perimeter of the container and a lowest portion that extends below the surface of the water. Extending from the bottom upward is a lower compartment for a salt compound covered by a pierceable foil partition. Perpendicular to the bottom is an annular central divider with a sufficiently sharp upper edge for piercing the partition when pressure is applied to the flexible bottom. The salt stored between the annular central divider and the lower compartment outer wall dissolves in the water upon shaking. The exothermic reaction warms the beverage to ideal temperature because of the proportion of water and salt set for each kind of beverage.

  • Patent number: 6588527
Abstract: A device for automatically rocking a stroller. Winding structure includes a connecting rod, whose first end is eccentrically mounted to the spring structure and whose second end is equally eccentrically mounted to the wheel axle extension so that the forward movement of the stroller winds the spring structure. The rocking structure includes a rod whose far end is mounted eccentrically to the wheel axle extension and whose forward end is less eccentrically mounted to the spring structure to ensure that the rod assumes a reciprocating motion during the unwinding of the spring structure. The user switches from winding mode to rocking mode. In an alternative embodiment a first rod attached to the shaft includes a lever that assumes different positions, the different lever positions changing the degree to which a second rod is eccentrically mounted to the spring structure and determining whether the device is in winding or rocking mode.

  • Patent number: 6586673
Abstract: Service loop tray assembly provides aesthetic organized service loop for a large or small amount of low voltage cables. In data center, a series of channel-shaped cable trays hold sets of cables. Each cable tray has a substantially u-shaped cross section and is mounted to a ladder rack at a series of junctures. The cable tray includes a substantially level service loop section, a cable access ramp and a cable drop lip, the service loop section connected to a cable access ramp and to a cable drop lip, the cable drop lip positioned to guide a first set of cables resting on the first cable tray into a data cabinet under the ladder rack containing termination points for cables. Cable access ramp of each cable tray rises sufficiently to avoid interference with a further set of cables that continues to a further cable tray at further junctures along ladder rack.

  • Patent number: 6552753
Abstract: Apparatus for maintaining uniform volume in television or audio system forms part of television set and contains an eight-bit DSP having a CPU, RAM and ROM memory, an analog digital convertor, a voltmeter and a timer and switch, a “SAVE” button. When the user begins listening to a first channel, the user experiments with the volume desired and once the user has it the user pushes the “SAVE” button on the TV set which activates the voltmeter to measure the volume of the tension on the output of the sound amplifier, and correspondingly the loudness level, at a number of intervals to capture variations occurring during the show. DSP calculates a mean volume of the tension which is then transmitted to the RAM and retained in memory. The DSP switches off the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6541526
Abstract: Mechanical/chemical method and composition for de-vulcanization of rubber maintains the macromolecules, renders sulfur passive for later re-vulcanization, is cost effective, environmentally friendly and produces high quality de-vulcanized rubber to replace virgin rubber. Waste rubber is shredded, crushed and metal-removed. Modifying composition is added as the particles of shredded waste rubber are poured between two rollers that further crush the particles. The modifying composition is a mixture of (1) a proton donor that selectively breaks the sulfur bonds and renders the sulfur passive, (2) a metal oxide and (3) an organic acid that build new bonds between macromolecules for later re-vulcanization, (4) an inhibitor that prevents re-attachment of sulfur radicals with each other before the proton donor attaches itself to the sulfur and (5) a friction agent that prevents sliding of the waste rubber between the rollers. The particles are subjected to at least ten sets of rollers.

  • Patent number: 6513316
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making faceting hollow or solid jewelry chains involves subjecting the chain wrapped around the drum of an ice lathe to the rotary motion of a cutting wheel essentially perpendicular to the length of the drum. The cutting wheel has a plurality of teeth and is fitted at the end of an arbor held by two bearings clamped to a flat steel platform which is adapted to the advance mechanism arm of the ice lathe. An electric motor mounted on the flat platform turns a shaft that is fitted with pulleys to allow the rotary power of the shaft to be transmitted to the arbor. The direction of the turning of the cutting wheel determines whether the cutting wheel is used to flatten and facet a hollow chain link or to cut a solid chain link. The cutting wheel's diameter and quantity of teeth is variable.

  • Patent number: 6363804
Abstract: Two similar gravitational transducer sub-systems connected with one another to maintain rotational energy caused by gravity as a result of the interaction between the two sub-systems. Each of the two sub-systems viewed independently employs a method and system of converting gravity into mechanical energy by means of a sequence of impulses of force. Together the overall system achieves enhanced effectiveness and achieves substantially constant velocity for certain periods of duration.
