Abstract: A pipe guide adapter adds marking slots and marking edges to a pipe guide. The pipe guide adapter includes two body sections joined by a hinge enabling the pipe guide adapter to be in open and closed positions. The body sections each include a gripping end and a marking section. The gripping end has a diameter greater than the diameter of the pipe guide to circumferentially grip a portion of the pipe guide in the closed position and to attach to the pipe guide. A pipe is circumferentially gripped jointly by the pipe guide and the pipe guide adapter. A hinge pin is partially disposed in the hinge and extends beyond the hinge. The hinge pin allows tie pipe guide adapter to be aligned to the pipe guide. The extended portion of the hinge pin acts as a stop and a spacer between the pipe guide adapter and the pipe guide.

Abstract: A system and controller for positioning an adjustable sizing cage for use with a blown film extrusion apparatus. A cage sizing subsystem is used to position the cage relative to the film tube. At least two non-contact sensors arranged on the sizing cage to provide signals to an automatic controller, which in turn positions the sizing cage a predetermined distance from the extruded tube. Two different modes of operation are provided for the controller when the size of the tube is to be changed: a forecast mode in which relatively large cage movements of the cage are made, and a contact mode in which the cage is maintained either in contact with the extruded tube, or at an operator selected distance from the extruded tube.
Abstract: A MOSFET switch which has a low surface electric field at an edge termination area, and also has increased breakdown voltage. The MOSFET switch has a new edge termination structure employing an N-P-N sandwich structure. The MOSFET switch also has a polysilicon field plate configuration operative to enhance any spreading of any depletion layer located at an edge of a main PN junction of the N-P-N sandwich structure.

Abstract: An RF switch includes first, second and third transmission lines for forming ports, respectively, and first, second and third slot line pattern portions connected to one another, for transferring signals to the first, second and third transmission lines, respectively. The first slot line pattern portion has a slot line pattern for transferring a signal received from the first transmission line to a connection point with the other slot line pattern portions, and a switching circuit for shorting the gap of a corresponding slot line and thus blocking the signal transfer. The second slot line pattern portion includes a loop slot line formed by a first and a second half loop slot line, a second sub-slot line for transferring a signal received from the connection point to the second transmission line through the loop slot line, and a switching circuit for shorting the gap of a corresponding slot line.
Abstract: An apparatus for forming holes in ground and for placing hygroscopic particles into the holes is disclosed. The apparatus includes a first chamber configured to hold a liquid and a second chamber configured to hold the hygroscopic particles. A first pressure mechanism maintains the liquid in the first chamber at a first pressure level, and a second pressure mechanism maintains the hygroscopic particles in the second chamber at a second pressure level. A first valve is operable during a first time period to regulate the delivery of the liquid into a third chamber through a first opening. A second opening is configured to direct jets of liquid from the third chamber during the first time period to form holes in the ground. A second valve is operable during a second time period to regulate the delivery of the hygroscopic particles to the third chamber.
Abstract: An entertaining and informative method of displaying competitive product performance data is disclosed. The various embodiments include a method for displaying product performance data by use of animated contests between animated representatives of competing products. The contest results are relative to selected product test results. The relationship between the test results and the contest results is a mathematical approximation. Thus, a gross disparity in the displayed animated contest is indicative of a gross disparity in the performance of the products on the test. Likewise, a closely fought contest in the displayed animated contest is indicative of close performance of the products on the test.
Abstract: An insulator for a drum of a concrete truck is provided. Because temperature is a factor in the time in which concrete cures, thermal conditions during transport are of paramount concern. There have been efforts to alleviate this problem by providing insulating blankets that control temperature better. However, until now, a durable system that effectively insulates concrete while in transport has not been available. Furthermore, construction of an insulating system large enough to cover a concrete mixer gives rise to numerous fabrication difficulties. With the introduction of a polyethylene foam interposed between truck tarp material, a convenient system that is easily coupled and decoupled from a truck is available that is both durable and cost effective.

Abstract: A method of extending the life of an extruder screw by affixing tiles of wear-resistant material along the crest of the extruder screw flighting threads, and optionally grinding the hardened material to remove any sharp edges. In another configuration of the present invention, plates of wear-resistant material are secured to the leading edges of the extruder screw threads to further prolong the life of the extruder screw.
Abstract: The invention includes a novel profile for a container bottom. The bottom structure includes a domed central panel attached at its outside edge to a downwardly projecting substantially cylindrical inner leg portion. The inner leg portion is attached to a generally semi-circular nose portion. The outside of the nose portion is attached to an upwardly and outwardly inclined outer leg portion. The outer leg portion is attached to an outwardly inclined peripheral portion. The peripheral portion is attached to the lower end of the generally cylindrical sidewall portion. The improvement primarily involves the larger stand diameter, and altered dome circle radius and dome depth, which produces a container bottom profile yielding more consistent results in drop tests to determine resistance to bulging and reversals (single can and consumer package flat and angled drop tests) than prior art can bottoms.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a tamping tool comprising a shank and a blade, with the blade having various arrangements of wear-resistant material affixed to the face of the blade by means of brazing, soldering, gluing or other method. Additionally, some arrangements of the tamping tool have a wear-resistant tip inserted into a groove in the end of the blade. The tamping tool of the present invention reduces wear, providing an increased life and increasing the time intervals at which it becomes necessary to replace the tamping tool.
Abstract: An optical connector assembly (2) has two optical connectors (3) and a combiner (5). Each optical connector has a connector body (30) with an angled latching arm (4) formed on the connector body. The latching arm has a fixed end (41) on the connector body and a free distal end. A groove (430) is defined on the distal end. The combiner has a combiner body (6) holding the optical connectors and a cantilevered trigger arm (7). The trigger arm has a fixed end on the combiner body and a free distal end. A rod (72) is formed on the distal end of the trigger arm, and is received in the grooves of the optical connectors.
