  • Patent number: 7339472
Abstract: An alarm assembly is adapted for ease of assembly. A mortise cylinder has an exterior end and an interior end. The mortise cylinder has a tailpiece on the interior end and is rotatable about an axis. A cam engages the tailpiece on the mortise cylinder to provide selective movement of the cam responsive to rotation of the mortise cylinder. A housing secures the mortise cylinder and cam relative to one another and to a wall or door. A biasing member is disposed between the housing and cam for urging the cam into engagement with the tailpiece of the mortise cylinder, wherein variations in the length of the mortise cylinder can be accommodated.

  • Patent number: 7336689
Abstract: An improved singlet delta oxygen generator (SOG) and method of its use are disclosed. The improved SOG is compact and scalable, capable of operating in a zero-gravity or low gravity environment, requires no gaseous diluent or buffer gas, and is capable of operating at pressures as high as one atmosphere. The improved SOG also efficiently utilizes the reactants and produces a O2(1?) stream that is largely free of chlorine and water vapor contamination and therefore does not require a BHP regeneration system or a water vapor trap. When used as part of a COIL system, the SOG may be part of a plenum that directly feeds the laser's nozzle. The close proximity of the SOG to the laser cavity allows operation of the SOG at higher pressures without significant depletion of available O2(1?) through collisional deactivation.

  • Patent number: 7332959
Abstract: The invention is a power amplifier circuit for providing a signal acceptable for use in audio amplifiers or similar applications without requiring a stable power supply free from fluctuation. An alternating current power supply signal rectified to a direct current signal is processed by two voltage multipliers. A voltage divider establishes a unity gain level, and the variance from this voltage is squared by the first voltage multiplier. This squared voltage is then multiplied with a triangular wave signal to generate a modulated triangular wave signal. The modulated triangular wave signal and a signal to be amplified, typically an audio signal, are processed by an internal comparator to generate a pulse width modulated signal. This modulated signal is processed by a power transistor network and filter to provide an amplified signal to a load device.

  • Patent number: 7325496
Abstract: The present invention comprises a tamping tool comprising a shank and a blade, with the blade having various arrangements of wear-resistant material affixed to the face of the blade by means of brazing, soldering, gluing or other method. Additionally, some arrangements of the tamping tool have a wear-resistant tip inserted into a groove in the end of the blade. The tamping tool of the present invention reduces wear, providing an increased life and increasing the time intervals at which it becomes necessary to replace the tamping tool.

  • Patent number: 7320514
Abstract: Primary and auxiliary lens assemblies are provided that allow a wearer easy usage with a reduced risk of misalignment or detachment through the use of micromagnets. Conventional magnetic auxiliary lens assemblies are difficult to manufacture and functionally limited due to the limitations of conventional magnets and the composition of the auxiliary frames. The improved lens assemblies disclosed herein instead employ high strength micromagnets advantageously aligned and embedded in the auxiliary lens frame to improve the ease and reliability of coupling to a primary frame, and to provide aesthetic and functional advantageous over the known art.

  • Patent number: 7316557
Abstract: A die assembly and a process for using the die assembly is disclosed. The die plate is made of a material that is somewhat resistant to cracking when subjected to pressure of an extrudate material from behind the die assembly. A series of recesses are arranged about the circumference of the die plate, into which dies of a more hardened material are secured. Holes conforming to the shape of the desired extrudate are drilled through the die plate and dies. The surface of the dies is ground smooth so that there is consistent, even contact between the dies and the mechanism used for cutting the extrudate as it is pushed out of the holes in the dies.

  • Patent number: 7315562
Abstract: An improved resonator and optical cavity is adapted for use with a chemical laser that has a nozzle upstream of the resonator that emits a gain medium in a flow direction, and a pressure-recovery system downstream of the resonator. The optical resonator comprises first and second optical elements that are spaced apart from one another along an optical axis. Each of the optical elements has a selected geometry and a selected optical transmissivity to permit transmissive outcoupling of a beam of laser radiation from the resonator, the outcoupled beam being transmitted about the optical axis. The transmissivity and geometry of each optical element is selected to define an unstable region between the optical elements and around the optical axis, and a stable region in a region surrounding the unstable region and spaced apart from the optical axis.

  • Patent number: 7314368
Abstract: An injection molding apparatus for injecting resin into a mold comprises an injection cylinder in fluid communication with the mold, wherein movement of a piston relative to the cylinder injects a selected quantity of resin into the mold. A plasticizing unit includes a flighted screw rotating in a heated containment barrel for plasticizing resin. The plasticizing unit is in fluid communication with the injection cylinder for supplying the injection cylinder with plasticized resin. A valve is provided for selectively placing the injection cylinder in fluid communication with the mold and placing the plasticizing unit in fluid communication with the injection cylinder, wherein the valve exerts pressure on resin in the mold independently of the injection cylinder or plasticizing unit. The valve is actuated by relative movement between the mold and one of the injection cylinder and the plasticizing unit.

  • Patent number: 7258044
Abstract: A rotating cutting apparatus comprising a cutting blade holder with at least one hole on the outside diameter of the cutting blade holder into which cutting blades are inserted and bonded to the cutting blade holder. The cutting blade holder encloses a center hole, so that the rotating cutting apparatus can be mounted to a drive shaft of machinery or secured to a cup that can be mounted to the drive shaft of machinery and driven by the machinery. The cutting blade holder can be made of a less expensive material, with only the cutting blade being made of higher-grade materials that maintains its cutting edge well. Additionally, in some arrangements of the present invention, the cutting blade may be sharpened on two sides so that the rotating cutting apparatus can be used for longer periods of time.

  • Patent number: 7257910
Abstract: Disclosed is an excavating machine, representatively a tracked excavator, having a boom stick portion on which both an excavating bucket and a hydraulic breaker are mounted for hydraulically driven pivotal movement between first and second limit positions. The bucket may be operated independently of the breaker for digging operations. Similarly, the breaker may be operated independently of the bucket for refusal material-breaking operations. The same excavating machine may now use the bucket and breaker in a rapid and continuous exchange to permit frequent removal of small quantities of broken refuse material with the bucket, exposing the bucket and breaker to fresh refuse material. The excavating machine disclosed incorporates an impact resistant deployment system with bifurcated and lubricated trunnion pivots and an in-line pivot restriction, or stop. The system provides a breaker assembly connection that permits quick installation and removal of the breaker, and significantly greater durability.
