  • Patent number: 7922307
Abstract: An ink supplying and collecting apparatus includes a case, ink cartridges detachably attached to the case, and a collecting container detachably attached to the case. The ink cartridges supply ink to a recording head of a printer via ink supply tubes. The collecting container collects ink drained from the recording head via an ink drain tube. The case is located outside of and is separate from the printer. Thus, the sizes and shapes of the ink cartridges and the collecting container can be freely designed.

  • Patent number: 7924211
Abstract: Detecting reflectors of an emitted electromagnetic pulse, using a received signal, by time-sampling the received signal and the emitted pulse at a same sampling frequency, each received sample corresponding to a return-trip distance for the emitted pulse between its transmitter and a possible reflector. The sampled received signal is divided by the emitted pulse sampled and temporally translated into an interval of duration equal to the emitted pulse divided into L samples, producing L results of the division. A weighted summing of the L results of the division is calculated, the sets of L weights each having a support on which the weights are not zero, every subinterval of length between L/n and L being the support for at least one set of weights and no support having a length of less than L/n, wherein the sums of the weights of a set all being equal, and n is a nonzero integer such that L/n is greater than or equal to 2.

  • Patent number: 7910840
Abstract: A measurement device and method that in one aspect determines and displays percentile information relating to growth indices, such as BMI, weight-for-length, and weight-for-height, based on a subject's age and gender. The device and method may also provide classification information, such as whether the percentile information is considered to be, for example, below normal, normal, above normal, or far above normal. The device and method may additionally indicate, for example, the normal range of the subject's weight based on the subject's height, the subject's height based on the subject's weight and the normal range of BMI based on the subject's age and gender. In still another aspect, the device and method may indicate predictive values of the subject's future weight, height, BMI or head circumference based on the subject's present measurement values and growth percentiles.

  • Patent number: 7909830
Abstract: A method for performing spinal fixation and instrumentation. A first incision may be made through the skin and a passageway may be created to the spine. A screw may be inserted through the passageway and into a vertebrae. The screw may have a head portion including a channel. An insertion guide may be operable connected to the screw. The insertion guide may have first and second longitudinal slots. Additional screws may each be inserted through separate incisions or through the first incision. Insertion guides may be operably connected to a head portion of each screw. A sleeve may be positioned into one insertion guide in a first position to guide a rod through at least one other insertion guide. The sleeve may be rotated to a second position to allow the rod to move down the slots of the insertion guide(s) and into the head portion of the screw.

  • Patent number: 7911270
Abstract: The invention relates to a broadband microwave device with switchable gain comprising a microwave signal input E and output S, a distributed amplifier with a plurality of amplifying cells comprising an input transmission line for an input signal applied to the microwave signal input E, said input transmission line having one of its two ends linked to the microwave signal input E, an output transmission line for said amplified input signal having an output end of the distributed amplifier, the cells of the distributed amplifier settable either to an amplifying state or to a blocked state. A switch switches the microwave signal output S either to a non-amplification position linked to the other end of the input transmission line, or to an amplification position linked to the output end of the distributed amplifier. A control unit supplies switch position control and amplifying cell status control signals.

  • Patent number: 7906535
Abstract: A topical insecticide preparation is provided which can be safe to use and avoids many common deleterious side effects of conventional topical insecticides. The topical insecticide contains a combination of a first pyrethroid insecticide effective for killing fleas, a second pyrethroid insecticide effective for killing ticks, and an insect growth regulator (IGR). The topical insecticide preparation can be packaged together or packaged so that the first and second pyrethroid insecticides are stored separately prior to administration of the insecticide preparation to the animal. The combination of the first and second pyrethroid insecticides with an insect growth regulator results in an insecticide preparation formulated to have enhanced insecticidal activity against fleas and ticks compared to the effectiveness of the first and second insecticides used alone.

  • Patent number: 7893687
Abstract: The invention relates to position sensors of the linearly variable induction difference type. When cost constraints prevent the use of transformers with guaranteed phase-shift tolerance to achieve an accuracy objective, it is advantageous to provide an independent demodulation of the signals of the two windings. The error signal thus has a lower dependence on the phase shift and the accuracy is typically enhanced by a factor greater than an order of magnitude.
