  • Patent number: 7293863
Abstract: A bypass flowing passage communicating with the inside of a bag part not through a second valve mechanism is provided for an outlet part 12, and ink can be filled from the outlet part into the bag part 11 despite the second valve mechanism V2. After an ink pack is housed in an inner case ink is filled into the ink pack. When a first seal film is welded to the inner case, the ends of the bag part are caught in a cartridge case because the bag part is not bulky. Therefore, the maximum amount of ink for the inner volume of the cartridge case can be filled. Further, since a bypass flowing passage is blocked after ink has filled the ink pack, contaminating of air bubbles into the bag part through the bypass flowing passage is prevented.

  • Patent number: 7293864
Abstract: A liquid container includes a container body (2) formed with a liquid supply port (3), and a container-side fixing structure (7) which releasably regulates movement of the liquid container in an outward pulling direction in cooperation with apparatus-side fixing structure provided for the container mounting part in a state where the liquid container is mounted onto the container mounting part. The container-side fixing structure (7) has a guide groove (16) into which a fixing pin of the apparatus-side fixing structure can be inserted, and which guides the fixing pin in mounting and removal operations of the liquid container to and from the container mounting part. The guide groove (16) includes a fixing part (18) which engages the fixing pin to regulate the movement of the liquid container (1) in the pulling direction in the state where the liquid container is mounted to the container mounting part.

  • Patent number: 7290869
Abstract: A multicolor-use ink cartridge 1 has obverse surface-side ink chambers 5(1) and 5(2) formed on an obverse surface side of a horizontal plate portion 31 of a rigid plastic plate 3 and reverse surface-side ink chambers 6(1) and 6(2) formed on a reverse surface side thereof. Since these ink chambers are arranged in a breadthwise direction so as to be staggered in a mutually overlapping state with the horizontal plate portion 31 interposed therebetween, it is possible to make small the dimension in a direction in which the ink chambers are arranged. The respective ink chambers are formed by joining flat portions 53b to 64b of three-dimensionally molded flexible plastic films 53, 54, 63, and 64 to obverse surface-side recesses 51 and 52 formed on the obverse surface of the horizontal plate portion 31 and reverse surface-side recesses 61 and 62 formed on the reverse surface thereof, respectively. Therefore, it is possible to form ink chambers having high sealability.

  • Patent number: 7283278
Abstract: A method and system are provided for preparing printed matter. The method is particularly well-suited for the Internet. Herein, an account holder provides information related to a desired type of printed matter to a printer. The printer collects data from a user to complete a template, and from the completed template, a viewable proof of the printed matter is instantaneously provided to the user. If the viewable proof is approved by the user, the printed matter is ordered to be printed. If not approved, the user makes changes to the data provided to instantaneously generate a new viewable proof. The process is repeated until the printed matter is ordered to be printed.

  • Patent number: 7267421
Abstract: An ink cartridge has an ink sensor. A printer's control device transmits a detection command and specified detection condition to the cartridge by radio. In response to the detection command, a sensor controller actuates and vibrates the sensor under the specified detection condition. The sensor is attached to a resonance chamber disposed in an ink chamber. The vibration frequency the sensor is regulated by a resonance frequency of the resonance chamber. The resonance frequency is varied by ink in the resonance chamber. Resonance frequency detection specifies the presence or absence of ink in the resonance chamber and so the quantity of ink. The printer's control device receives the detection result with the detection condition from the cartridge, and checks whether detection was performed under the specified detection condition, to verify the detection result's validity.

  • Patent number: 7267415
Abstract: A printer has a sequential access EEPROM used with storage elements on black and color ink cartridges. Cartridge data such as data concerning inks in the cartridges are stored in the cartridges' storage elements. The addressing format for the cartridges' storage elements differs from that for the EEPROM. The printer's controller converts the storage format of addressing before writing information into the cartridges' storage elements. Data to be written into storage elements are temporarily placed in a RAM on the printer's carriage. The data are then written into storage elements of the black and color cartridges, say, during power-off operation. Signal lines and memory used when writing data into storage elements are identical to signal lines through which print data are transmitted to a print head on the carriage, and the memory where print data are stored. This reduces ink cartridge manufacturing cost and printer size.

  • Patent number: 7257991
Abstract: A sample testing device has a buffer container that can hold buffer fluid, a filter with a securement for holding a test strip, the test strip, a test strip container having a receptacle to accommodate the filter, so that when the filter is held therein the test strip is disposed in the receptacle, and a sample collector for holding a sample. The sample collector receives the buffer container, and the sample collector has a piercing member which, when the buffer container is placed in the sample collector, pierces the buffer container. Buffer fluid in the buffer container then contacts the sample. As buffer fluid flows through the sample collector, the buffer fluid that has contacted the sample passes through the filter to the test strip.
