  • Patent number: 6262554
Abstract: In an electronic device having a stepping motor which can be driven more quickly than in a normal driving operation without causing a significant increase in power consumption, a detecting coil control circuit is provided which controls a connection circuit serving to open and close a detecting coil that is wound coaxially with a driving coil, in such a manner that the detecting coil is opened during the period in which a quick driving pulse is supplied to the driving coil. After supplying the quick driving pulse, a driving controller controls a driving circuit so as to open the driving coil, while the driving controller closes the detecting coil so that a voltage induced in the detecting coil by an electromotive force is detected by a position detecting circuit thereby determining the position of a rotor. The chance that the driving coil and the detecting coil act as electromagnetic brakes is minimized thereby ensuring that the quick driving operation is performed with low power consumption.

  • Patent number: 6256539
Abstract: A method for healing an injury of a patient using an electrical stimulator and acupuncture needles is provided. The method can include the step of positioning a plurality of acupuncture needles coupled to the electrical stimulator at specific acupuncture points. The next step includes applying a current to the acupuncture needles. The first half of the treatment, a current is applied through the needles until a stinging sensation (or pain) is felt by the patient. Halfway through the treatment, the current is increased until a stinging sensation is again felt by the patient. At least four acupuncture needles are positioned at specific acupuncture points and alternating the polarity of the needles. The method may also include the use of Auriculotherapy, electrical stimulation without needles, in conjunction with the acupuncture needles and electric stimulator. The method may also be applied to the treatment of peripheral vascular disease, due to the effect of increasing blood flow and oxygen to the vessels.

  • Patent number: 6250750
Abstract: Reinforcing ridges are formed so as to project from corner portions of peripheral walls, and an opening end edge is made thick-walled, so that an ink cartridge having a sufficient rigidity can be molded using vapor impermeable soft synthetic resins. In addition, shape keeping ribs are formed so as to project from the outer sides of longitudinal ribs that are formed on an inner surface of a cover body, so that deformation of the cartridge can be suppressed during vibration welding. Further, an engaging recess arranged in a lower surface of an ink cartridge is adapted to receive a support rod of an ink cartridge loading mechanism. A carriage cover body of the loading mechanism is closed as a lifter is guided with a guide groove which is parallel to the axial center of an ink supply needle so that the ink cartridge is allowed to descend correctly toward a recording head, so that the ink cartridge can be loaded correctly without breaking the ink supply needle.

  • Patent number: 6248485
Abstract: A method and controller for controlling a process and system for patterning a feature in a photoresist on a semiconductor wafer. The present invention characterizes various components (both individually and collectively) of an image transfer system, including the illumination source, lens and product reticle, with regard to dimensional errors introduced into the image transfer process by these components. The collective error data or information provided in accordance with the present invention may be communicated to the image transfer system to control the image transfer system and the image transfer process and to ensure that the actual dimension of features patterned in the photoresist are within acceptable dimensional limits for these features.

  • Patent number: 6249636
Abstract: A splice holder is provided for accommodating a plurality of splices of different sizes. The holder is formed with a base from which extend a plurality of splice holder elements, and a plurality of deflectable arms. The splice holder elements are each formed with a primary channel sized to receive and hold a fusion splice. Additionally, a secondary channel is defined between each pair of adjacent splice holder elements that is also sized to receive and hold a fusion splice. The primary and secondary channels are staggered to increase the number of splices the holder can accommodate without increasing the size thereof. Further, the arms are shaped to engage and latch onto array ribbon splices. With the combination of the splice holder elements and the arms, the splice holder can accommodate both fusion splices and array ribbon splices.
