Abstract: A coiler plate is provided for sliver coil depositing. The coiler plate has a rotational axis, a spatially curved sliver channel having a wall, an inside wall surface, a sliver inlet, a sliver outlet, and a plurality of air inlets in the sliver channel wall for introducing air into the sliver channel. The sliver inlet is arranged substantially coaxial with the rotational axis, and the sliver outlet is arranged at a radial distance and an axial distance from the sliver inlet. The sliver is subject to a tensioning draft, and the air introduced into the sliver channel is for acting on the sliver to reduce a frictional force between the sliver and the inside wall surface of the sliver channel.
Abstract: A carding machine includes a main carding cylinder having a cylinder surface carrying a cylinder clothing thereon; a licker-in cooperating with the cylinder for transferring fiber material, including long and short fibers, from the licker-in to the carding cylinder; a doffer cooperating with the carding cylinder for transferring fiber material from the carding cylinder to the doffer; a cylinder cover extending circumferentially underneath the carding cylinder between the licker-in and the doffer; a force-exerting arrangement for applying, to the short fibers, a removing force greater than a retaining force exerted on the short fibers by the cylinder clothing carrying the fiber material; a waste outlet opening provided in the cylinder cover for discharging short fibers from the fiber material carried by the cylinder clothing; a suction hood coupled to the waste outlet opening for receiving the short fibers from the waste outlet opening.
Abstract: A fiber processing machine includes a sliver drafting unit which has first and second adjoining roll assemblies each defining a nip through which a sliver runs in a sliver advancing direction. The second roll assembly is spaced downstream of the first roll assembly. The nips of the first and second roll assemblies together define a principal drafting field and the drafting direction thereof. At least two pressure bars are disposed in the principal drafting field for contacting and deflecting the sliver from the drafting direction as the sliver advances from the first roll assembly to the second roll assembly.
Abstract: A control system for a group of fiber processing machines includes a superordinated control console; and separate machine-specific control consoles connected to each respective fiber processing machine. The superordinated control console and the machine-specific control consoles are connected to one another by control and regulating devices via a network. The superordinated control console includes a stationary unit having arrangements for supplying current, for communicating with said network, for storing and administering data, and a computer. The superordinated control console further includes a mobile unit having an operating and displaying unit.
Abstract: A fiber processing system includes a first roll; a feed tray forming a feeding device with the first roll and defining a clamping location therewith for clamping and advancing fiber material; a second roll cooperating with the feeding device for taking over the fiber material therefrom at a transfer location on the second roll; a third roll cooperating with the second roll for taking over the fiber material from the second roll; and an adjusting arrangement for varying a distance between the clamping and transfer locations. The adjusting arrangement includes a pivoting device for arcuately displacing the second roll about the rotary axis of the first or the third roll; and a shifting device for displacing the feeding device toward or away from the third roll.
Abstract: A suction gripper for lifting, transporting and depositing items, includes a basic suction body having an inner surface; a first opening for coupling the basic suction body to a suction source; and a second opening through which an item is introduced into the basic suction body by suction. An abutment member is positioned within the basic suction body between the first and second openings such that a clearance is defined between the abutment member and the inner surface of the basic suction body for allowing a suction stream to pass from the second opening through the clearance into the first opening. A storage chamber is defined between the inner surface of basic suction body, the second opening and the abutment member for accommodating an item drawn thereinto and held against the abutment member by suction.
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for manipulating trays for groups of rod-shaped articles which constitute or form part of smokers' products. The apparatus has a tray filling unit, a tray emptying unit including a magazine for filled trays, a source of empty trays, a predetermined storage facility for filled trays, a first conveyor, a second conveyor, and a device for transporting filled trays from the predetermined storage facility to the emptying unit. The first conveyor feeds a succession of empty trays from the source to the filling unit. The second conveyor feeds successive filled trays from the filling unit to the predetermined storage facility.
