  • Patent number: 8201453
Abstract: A medium fatigue detection apparatus and a medium fatigue detection method detect fatigue of a sheet-like medium. The apparatus includes an ultrasonic sending device for oscillating ultrasonic waves as burst waves, an ultrasonic receiving device, and a sensed intensity detector. The ultrasonic sending device and ultrasonic receiving device are arranged to oppose each other and allow a sheet-like medium to pass between them. The ultrasonic waves sent from the ultrasonic sending device are incident on a principal surface of the sheet-like medium at a predetermined incident angle ?. Fatigue of the medium is detected by measuring a variation in sensed intensity of the ultrasonic waves having passed through the sheet-like medium.

  • Patent number: 8203545
Abstract: Display data D1 to Dn are latched by a data latch, and are supplied to AND gates which are gate-controlled by a blanking signal/BLK. Output signals from the AND gates are delayed by delay circuits having different time delays of ?1 to ?n, and then supplied to drivers. Subsequently, the output signals are supplied to a display device as driving signals Q1 to Qn. The timings of changes of signals S1 to Sn supplied to the drivers are distributed by the delay circuits, so that the timings of currents i1 to in flowing through the drivers are also distributed. Accordingly, a sum ?i of the currents i1 to in changes gradually over time, thereby decreasing the peak current.

  • Patent number: 8196560
Abstract: A multi-hole injector directly injects fuel into a combustion chamber. Intake air is introduced into the combustion chamber through intake ports to provide tumble flow in the combustion chamber. A cavity is formed in a part of the top surface of a piston which is eccentric to the exhaust side. In the intake stroke, fuel injection ends in a downstroke of a piston. When the crank angle is 100 degrees after the top dead center in the intake stroke at which the fuel injection ends, a most downward lower spray collides with a part of the top surface of the piston which ranges on the intake side from the edge on the exhaust side of the cavity. A most upward upper spray does not come into contact with a spark plug. Thus, the fuel injection can enhance the tumble flow to promote homogeneous dispersion of fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber.
