    Abstract: A squeegee roller cleaning apparatus of a liquid electrophotographic printer includes a squeegee roller and a cleaning roller. The squeegee roller is mounted to be operative for movement in order to selectively contact a photoreceptor web circulating along an endless path. The cleaning roller includes at least one blade member that is spirally twisted on the outer circumference of a rotary rod so as to contact the squeegee roller by the movement of the squeegee roller to remove a hold-up volume of developer. Thus, contamination of the photoreceptor web and the transfer roller can be reduced so that the quality of the printed image can be improved.

    Abstract: An angled Bragg grating optical waveguide section adjusts the spectral response of a transmission filter in an optical waveguide or in an optical fiber. To smooth the response of the filter, which is subject to modulation due to coupling to the various cladding modes, the pitch of the Bragg grating is caused to vary in a linear fashion along the length of the filter. To adapt the attenuation band to a required band, the cladding of the optical fiber is doped with a photosensitive material so that the grating is also formed in the cladding. The photosensitivity of the cladding is advantageously greater than that of the core, in a ratio in the order of 5:1.

    Abstract: When any of facilities of a film producing and packaging system suffers a failure, a film processing controller shuts off the film producing and packaging system. The operator repairs a failing facility and manually discharges a length of an elongate film which may possibly be defective. After the failing facility is repaired, the film processing controller is restarted to operate the film producing and packaging system, which then automatically discharges a length of the elongate film corresponding to a preset number of sized films. It is possible to easily and quickly discard a portion of the elongate film which has been made defective by the facility failure.
