Abstract: A modular farm tractor whose wheels are driven by individual A.C. induction motors and whose accessories or attachments are also driven by A.C. induction motors. A prime mover, such as a gas turbine operating at a constant speed, is mounted on the tractor and drives a three-phase alternator which produces A.C. power at a constant frequency of 400 Hz. The frequency of the power applied to the wheel motors is controlled by a first cycloconverter means connected to the output of the alternator. The alternator output is also coupled through a second cycloconverter means to an A.C. power outlet mounted on the tractor. Various farm accessories associated with the tractor are driven by A.C. induction motors connected to the A.C. outlet. The frequency of the power applied to the accessory motors is controlled by the second cycloconverter means. A material-transferring tunnel runs between the front and rear of the tractor along the center line thereof and between the tractor's wheels.

Abstract: A sintered apatite body obtained by molding and sintering an apatite powder, Ca.sub.5 (PO.sub.4).sub.3 OH, containing 0.01 to 20% by weight of (Ca,Mg).sub.3 (PO.sub.4).sub.2. The sintered apatite body has high mechanical strength and good affinity with living tissues and cells, and is suitable as medical implant materials such as prosthetic teeth or bones.
Abstract: A geodesic lens parallel plate waveguide in the shape of a quarter-sphere is used to interconnect a linear array of transmitting/receiving elements and an array of coupling elements. Using this aerial component, scanned radio beams can be generated by a transmitting aerial if the array of coupling elements is commutatively actuated. Unused corners of the geodesic lens parallel plate waveguide may be omitted.

Abstract: A constant balance crane has a control tower and a plurality of gantry members mounted on the tower between its base and its upper section. Trolleys on the gantries are movably mounted, and a lift mechanism is provided on at least one trolley. On at least one other trolley a counterweight is carried. The lift and counterweight trolleys are propelled on the gantries by a hydraulic system or the like which is partially manual and partially automatically responsive to the downward moments on the gantry to adjust the counterweight trolley to a load balancing position, and to continuously adjust the counterweights relative to the load such that constant balance is maintained. In modified embodiments, the counterweight trolley travels in a horizontal plane that is vertically spaced from the plane of travel of the load trolley.

Abstract: An amplifier circuit suitable for use as a video amplifier in a color television circuit for driving the variable impedance load provided by a color television picture tube, in which the load impedance of the amplifier element of the circuit is also made variable. This is achieved, in one embodiment by using as the output stage of the amplifier two transistors with a complementary symmetrical configuration so that one is always substantially cut-off while the other conducts. In another embodiment a transistor in common collector configuration acts as the amplifier element and its emitter from which the output of the amplifier is taken is connected by a diode to the collector of a transistor which feeds the base of the common collector transistor.
