  • Patent number: 6404241
Abstract: A current-mode peak detector circuit is disclosed. The current-mode peak detector circuit includes an input transistor for receiving an input current that impresses a voltage on a control node, a pair of transistors for providing an output current in response to the voltage at the control node, and a decay control circuit for controlling the decay of the voltage at the control node such that the output current is representative of a peak value of the input current signal. A clamp circuit may be provided for clamping the input voltage to a predetermined level. All of the elements of the current-mode peak detector circuit may be realized using transistors for facilitating integration of the current-mode peak detector circuit on an integrated circuit. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other researcher to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.

  • Patent number: 6392489
Abstract: A high precision current control circuit (current mirror) is disclosed. As in prior current mirrors, a reference voltage is generated from the input reference current. An operational amplifier is placed between the reference diode and the bases of the controlled transistors to provide precise reproduction of the reference voltage with ample current to drive many controlled current sources or current sources with high multiplication ratios from the reference current. As compared to prior emitter follower drivers, a lower voltage threshold of operation from an external proportional control results. Lower power supply voltage is supported, since one diode drop is removed from the reference current path.

  • Patent number: 6373231
Abstract: A voltage regulator includes a static regulator that provides a static regulated supply output as a reference input to a dynamic regulator to provide a regulated supply voltage. In one embodiment, multiple dynamic regulators are connected to the static regulated supply output of the static regulator. The one or more dynamic regulators dynamically detect when the regulated supply voltage is loaded below a predetermined reference level, and provide extra current in response to prevent the regulated supply voltage from drooping. Since the static regulator is capable of handling large average currents, the dynamic regulator circuit can be smaller than a typical dynamic regulator for an equivalent load. Furthermore, since the dynamic regulator provides transient current requirements, the size of the static regulator may be likewise smaller in size than a typical static regulator for an equivalent load.

  • Patent number: 6363440
Abstract: A method and system for storing an information signal for subsequent recording are disclosed. An incoming information signal is received, and a starting point in the information signal is identified. At least a portion of the information signal is stored in a memory as it is received, including the identified starting point. A command to record the information signal is received subsequent to the starting point of the information signal, and the information signal is recorded from the memory beginning with the starting point such that the information signal is recorded in its entirety. If the information signal is not recorded, the information signal will continue to be saved until the capacity of the memory is reached at which point the information signal may be recorded over the previously saved information signal. An end point of an information signal may be identified as the starting point of a new information signal desired to be recorded.
