  • Patent number: 8320535
Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable media are disclosed to provide selectable greetings or responses to a request to initiate a communication. In one embodiment, a method of providing selectable greetings in response to a request to initiate a communication can comprise receiving the request to initiate a communication from an initiating device. The request can identify an intended recipient device. A greeting can be selected from a set of pre-determined greetings in user profile information from a user of the recipient device. A response message to the initiating device can be generated where the response message indicates the selected greeting. The response message can be sent to the initiating device.

  • Patent number: 8300801
Abstract: A system and method for enhancing communications through a phone. A voice communication is received from a user of the phone. A secondary signal is received from an environment in proximity to the phone. The secondary signal is processed to determine an inverse signal in response to receiving the secondary signal. The inverse signal is combined with the voice communication and the secondary signal to destructively interfere with the secondary signal for allowing a receiving party to more effectively communicate with the user.

  • Patent number: 8298394
Abstract: Provided is a multi-channel apparatus for non-gel based two-dimensional protein separation. One or more flat channels are arranged in parallel and have an isoelectric focusing section for primarily separating proteins from protein samples according to isoelectric point (pI) and a flow field-flow fractionation section for secondarily separating the primarily separated proteins according to molecular weight, thereby making it possible to simultaneously separate the proteins in multiple channels, to increase a protein separation speed, and to overcome limitation to sample injection due to an increase in channel volume. The apparatus can separate the proteins according to pI and molecular weight, be safe from denaturation of the protein in the process of protein separation, automatically remove an ampholyte used for pI-based separation, and separately detecting the separated proteins to identify the proteins using nanoflow liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS-MS).

  • Patent number: 8295801
Abstract: A system and method for capturing emergency data messages in a network environment includes receiving, at a first network node, an emergency data message communicated from a wireless communications device. The emergency data message may be accompanied by an origination address and destination address indicative of an emergency network address. A determination may be made at the first network node to determine whether the origination address matches a monitored address established by a law enforcement agency to capture data messages to or from the origination address. If it is determined that the origination address matches the monitored address, then a copy of the emergency data message may be routed to a second network node for collection of the emergency data message and the emergency data message may be routed to the destination address. Otherwise, the emergency data message may be routed to the destination address.
