A pressuring member (14) has a restricting section that does not contact with the extending section (20B) of the latching metallic piece (12) at the open position, and that prevents the displacement of the extending section at the closed position. When the pressuring member is at the open position, the lever-like arm (20) is in the state that it can be freely displaced so as to allow insertion/removal of the flat-type cable. When the pressuring member is at the closed position, the displacement of the lever-like arm relative to the latching section in the direction that increases the latching of the latching claw (20A) is prevented, and the displacement of the lever-like arm in the direction that reduces the latching is prevented.

Abstract: The logic format of a mask ROM (10) is composed of a user region (11) having a plurality of blocks, a spare region (12) having a plurality of blocks, and a table region (13) having a plurality of blocks. When the outside data is written in the mask ROM by the control of a MPU (24), if there is a defective block in the user region, the defective block is replaced by a spare block in the spare region. If the spare block is defective, it is replaced by another spare block. The replacement information (address, et.) is stored in a block in the table region, and if the block of the table region is defective, it is replaced by another block. Accordingly, since a defective block in the mask ROM (10) is replaced by another block, a defective mask ROM is relieved.

The prosody generation module is provided with both a duration rule table containing empirically found phoneme durations and a duration prediction table containing phoneme durations predicted by statistical analysis and, when the user-designated utterance speed exceeds a threshold, uses the duration rule table and, when the threshold is not exceeded, uses the duration prediction table to determined the phoneme duration.
