    Abstract: A drilling apparatus includes an upper drill string, a lower drill string including a rotary drilling motor, an orientable rotatable connection between the drill strings, a reactive torque control device associated with the orientable rotatable connection, an orientation sensing device for providing a sensed actual orientation of the lower drill string, and a feedback control system configured to actuate the control device in response to the sensed actual orientation to achieve a target orientation of the lower drill string. A drilling method includes actuating the control device to prevent relative rotation of the drill strings, providing a sensed actual orientation of the lower drill string, comparing the sensed actual orientation with a target orientation of the lower drill string, actuating the control device to allow the lower drill string to rotate to provide the target orientation, and actuating the control device to prevent relative rotation of the drill strings.

The assimilating connector includes one or more of a rotary movement assimilating connector, a longitudinal movement assimilating connector and a transverse movement assimilating connector.

    Abstract: An orientation sensing apparatus includes a rotatable first member, an orientation sensor device fixed with the first member for generating orientation data relating to an orientation sensor device orientation, and a rotation sensor device for generating rotation data relating to rotation of the first member. A method for determining an orientation includes assembling a set of sensor data including the orientation data and rotation data and processing the set of sensor data to generate a set of corrected orientation data. The set of corrected orientation data includes the orientation data which has been corrected using the rotation data to reduce the effects of rotation of the first member and misalignment of the gravity sensor device. One or more sets of corrected orientation data may be processed to determine an inclination orientation of the first member or a toolface orientation of a second member which is connected with the first member.

A holding assembly for holding the vehicle in position engages the vehicle frame from the outside and engages a second rail mounted transversely to the rails fixed to the floor. Preferably the post includes a substantially upright lower portion and an upper portion pivotally attached thereto in order to extend its height, wherein the lower portion does not exceed the ground clearance of the vehicle. Thus, the post may be placed into position against the deformity from beside the vehicle without requiring an increase in the vehicle's ground clearance.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for pumping fluids in a wellbore. The apparatus includes a pipe string in the wellbore extending between a wellhead end and a production end, the pipe string defining an interior fluid path. A swivel device is connected into the pipe string so that an upper portion of the pipe string rotates relative to a lower portion thereof. A lower connector connects the lower portion with a stator of a rotary pump such that a fluid pumped by the pump is conducted through the interior fluid path of the pipe string. An upper connector connects the upper portion with a rotor of the rotary pump such that rotation of the upper portion rotates the rotor and thus pumps the fluid. The method includes rotatably supporting the upper portion in the wellbore at the wellhead end, connecting the lower portion with the stator, connecting the upper portion with the rotor, positioning the pump in the wellbore and rotating the upper portion in order to rotate the rotor to pump the fluid.
