In order to achieve high forces and low wear in the movement carried out with aid of a slot guide which guide serves to transmit forces during, and in the direction of, the opening and closing, the slot guide comprises slots which are formed in a drive plate, which slots cooperate with and overlap complementary slots in the movable valve members.

The test strip is positioned in a housing shaped and configured to allow a detector to access the test strip from the side, rather than from the lengthwise axis of the test strip. The housing may contain one or more test strips which may also be disposed on one or more surfaces of the housing. Preferably, the housing is generally C-shaped with the test strip spanning the space between the two arms of the C-shape. The housing is sealed to protect both the operator and instrument from possible contamination. The test strip is preferably embedded with paramagnetic particles and process chemistry specific for a particular application. Quantitative analysis may be accomplished using a magnetic reader device. In additional embodiments, detection is accomplished by visual means.

    Abstract: A method for measuring a program-controlled machine tool using a measuring sphere. According to this method the measuring sphere having known dimensions is positioned on a machine part. A sensing element installed in the machine is moved to a selected initial position in which it is located approximately 10 mm above the vertex section of the sphere. Then the sensing element is repeatedly moved until it contacts various points on the surface of the sphere, and the coordinate values of those points of contact are input into the controller. Thereafter the spatial position of the center of the sphere is calculated and compared with target values stored in the controller.

    Abstract: A water purification system includes an activated carbon filter and a reverse-osmosis (RO) filter. The activated carbon filter is typically formed with a central aperture that receives an upper portion of a central tube. The system further includes a head that is structured to receive a sump that contains the carbon and RO filters, as well as the central tube. An inlet formed in the head enables unpurified feed water to flow into the carbon filter. A first channel, which is defined by an annular surface formed in the carbon filter and an outer surface of the central tube, enables water to flow into the RO filter. A channel within the central tube enables water to flow from the RO filter, through the perforated sections of the central tube, and into an outlet formed within the head.

    Abstract: A turbine wheel for driving rapidly rotating tools, in the form of a circular disk or ring, configured for mounting so as to be rotatable about an axis. Disposed thereon in circular formation are turbine blades having axially parallel front and back faces curved in the radial direction. The front face has a lesser radius of curvature (R3, R4), at least in portions, than the back face. This feature allows the turbine wheel to fit into the conventional turbine housings without relatively major redesign and with, at most, slight modifications. The turbine wheel can achieve higher torque than previous turbine wheels at the required high rotational speeds. Thus, a greater quantity of material can be applied to the spraying dome or a spraying disk without a detrimental braking. Surfaces to be sprayed can be provided with a uniform coat of material in shorter time.

Time division multiple access control is provided at each subscriber station operated such that each subscriber transmits at a time different from the other subscribers in its sector so that the subscribers in a given sector do not interfere with each others' transmissions, respectively. The power level transmitted by the subscribers are adjusted or controlled so that the subscriber signals arrive at the respective base stations at about the same power level.
