  • Patent number: 6308841
Abstract: A holder for taper's knives is an open grid structure defined by parallel pairs of spaced apart stringer pieces connected together with transverse joiner pieces. Pairs of stringers in an upper tier are aligned with associated pairs of stringers in a lower tier. Some of the stringer pieces sub-divide the slot courses defined by the spaces apart ones of stringers in each pair. Knives are inserted into the slots courses and hang down with a handle of the knife supported on top of the pair stringers. Support legs and carrying handles at opposite ends of the grid structure are constituted from others of the joiner pieces.

  • Patent number: 6309486
Abstract: A functional laminate film protects a color conversion filter and an organic electroluminescent element from mutual contamination during manufacture and use. The functional laminate film includes a transparent base film, a coupling layer and a hard coat layer. The coupling layer is bonded to the color conversion filter to present a flat surface with substantial reduction in optical defects. The hard coat layer is hard enough to withstand the formation of the organic electroluminescent element on its upper surface. The hard coat layer also acts as a barrier to prevent chemical species from the fluorescent materials within the color conversion filter from adversely affecting the organic electroluminescent element during manufacture and operation, and vice versa. The result is an improved polychromatic electroluminescent device composed of the organic electroluminescent element, the functional laminate film and the color conversion filter.

  • Patent number: 6308987
Abstract: A canister for the recovery of evaporated fuel in a fuel tank of a vehicle is positioned in a central region of a vehicle. The vehicle body frame includes left and right side frames attached with a plurality of cross members. The canister is positioned behind a central cross member at a side opposite of an exhaust pipe running from the vehicle engine toward the rear of the vehicle. By attaching the canister in this location, a vapor pipe connecting the canister with the fuel tank is shortened, resulting in a more adequate recovers of evaporated fuel. Additionally, a canister placed in this location, is made larger, further increasing the adequacy of evaporated fuel recovery. Furthermore, as opposed to conventional canisters being located in the engine compartment, a canister located behind the central cross member is not effected by warming caused by the engine. The result is a canister having excellent performance in the recovery of evaporated fuel from the fuel tank of a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6310614
Abstract: Two transparent conductive panels are separated by a perimeter of elastic adhesive that forms a sealed gap in which transparent insulative fluid is interposed. The fluid has suspended conductive particles and a refraction index close to that of the panels to improve light transmittance through the device. The conductive particles and small gap width improves response time and prevents formation of a vacuum in the gap. The panels are connected to a position detection circuit that determines coordinate position of an applied pressure point. Spacers in the gap reduce the chance of response to accidental large-area contact which would result in an erroneous position command. The elasticity of the adhesive and the small gap width provide better temperature variation tolerance in addition to improved consistency and reliability of operation.

  • Patent number: 6305890
Abstract: A nut covering device comprises the following: a cover assembly, including an inner cover, outer cover, and a first constraining mechanism; a second constraining mechanism; and a third constraining mechanism. The first constraining mechanism constrains so that there is no relative motion of the outer cover with respect to the inner cover in an axis direction. The second constraining mechanism constrains so that there is no relative motion of the inner cover with respect to the nut member in the axis direction. The third constraining mechanism constrains so that there is no relative motion of the outer cover with respect to the nut member in the axis direction at least in the removal direction. When a circumferential phase of the inner cover and the outer cover is matched with a predetermined specified phase, second and third constraining mechanisms are released, and the cover assembly can be removed from the nut member.

  • Patent number: 6301205
Abstract: A disk playback device provides a space above and below a selected disk held in a disk holder. A turntable and optical pickup reside within the space. The turntable is moved inward in the space from a storage position to chuck, and withdraw, the selected disk from its disk holder to a playback position in which the axis of the turntable is within the outline of disks stored in disk holders. The storage position places the axis of the turntable outside the outline of disks stored in the disk holders. In a single play mode, a disk not stored in a disk holder is moved directly from outside the disk playback device to the playback position where it is chucked and played. On conclusion of single play, the disk is transported out of the disk playback device without being resident in a disk holder.

  • Patent number: 6295268
Abstract: A cam member, having a cam groove on its outer surface, is slidably mounted on a rotating shaft to allow for movement of disk holders between a playback position and a stored position. In one embodiment, the cam groove is continuous about the cam member, making two complete rotations around the cam member. When a first disk holder is at the playback position, the cam groove engages the second disk holder at the stored position. When the second disk holder is selected to be played, rotation of the cam member causes the first disk holder to move to a stored position on an opposite end of the cam member while the second disk holder is in the playback position. The overall height required for such a disk holding device is constant, providing for a multiple disk playback device with minimal height requirements.

  • Patent number: 6283083
Abstract: An oil chamber at an upper portion of an outboard engine provides lubrication to a valve gear device within a cylinder head of the outboard engine. Oil passages provide engine oil into the oil chamber. Oil dropping passages on the bottom of the oil chamber permits the oil to flow vertically from the oil chamber into the cylinder head. The oil dropping passages are positioned above the valve end sections to provide sufficient lubrication to the valve end sections of the engine. As a result, the valve end sections are made from material of normal hardness, thereby reducing manufacturing costs.
