  • Patent number: 6213785
Abstract: A T-shaped groove is cut out from a section of a guide wall of a memory card connector. The groove also defines an interior T-shaped portion. The bar portion of the interior T-shaped portion is bent back 180 degrees so that it extends over the groove from which it was cut out. The bar portion of the interior T-shaped portion makes contact with the edges of the groove preventing the interior T-shaped portion from moving through the groove. The interior T-shaped portion also has an arcuate portion that resiliently holds a memory card in place. The memory card connector also includes a connection part and at least one other guide wall arraigned to from a U-shaped slot for holding a memory card.

  • Patent number: 6206683
Abstract: Two sets of linear motors are fixed on opposed sides of a molding head driving device. Each linear motor includes a movable slider facing a casing. The linear motor contains a molding head and a magnetic plate facing a molding head. The use of two linear motors cancels out the magnetic attraction between the facing linear motors. A linear roller guide is disposed vertically in a direction perpendicular to the magnetic attraction between the linear motors so that the magnetic attraction from the linear motors does not act on the linear roller guide. In another embodiment, three sets of molding head driving devices are disposed between left and right frames integrally formed projecting from a base to form a molding device. In a further embodiment a pair of double linear motors drives four molding head driving devices. The double linear motors are affixed together by, for example, bolts.

  • Patent number: 6200714
Abstract: An electrophotographic photoconductor includes a phosphinate additive in a photosensitive film that improves the stability of the coating liquid for the photosensitive film. The electrophotographic photoconductor includes an electrically conductive substrate and a photosensitive film on the substrate. The photosensitive film contains a charge generation agent and a phosphinate compound. The photoconductor may be of either a monolayer or a laminate construction. In the case of a laminate type photoconductor, the phosphinate compound is incorporated into the charge transport layer. A method of making an electrophotographic photoconductor adds a phosphinate additive to the coating liquid for a photosensitive film to improve stability of the coating liquid. The method involves producing a coating liquid containing a phosphinate compound and coating a conductive substrate with the coating liquid to form a photosensitive film.

  • Patent number: 6201500
Abstract: First and second helical antenna elements are connected in series with a radio signal. The first helical antenna element resonates at a first frequency as a ¼-wavelength antenna. The series combination of the first and second helical antenna elements resonates as a ¾ wavelength antenna at a second frequency respectively. The two frequencies differ by less than a factor of three. A retractable rod antenna shorts out one of the antenna elements in an extended position at which it is connected to the radio, and is disconnected from the radio in its retracted position. • Patent number: 6193462
Abstract: A flow channel and pressure equalizing sections introduce a fluid having substantially no angular momentum into a thrust balance chamber of a thrust balance device. The introduction of this fluid reduces the angular momentum of the fluid in the thrust balance chamber, facilitating the discharge of fluid out of the thrust balance chamber through a variable orifice. The thrust balance chamber exerts a variable pressure onto a rear surface of an impeller of a centrifugal pump. This pressure prevents significant displacement of the impeller during pump operation. The result is a centrifugal pump having good thrust balance properties regardless of flow rate and impeller speed.

  • Patent number: 6194025
Abstract: A lubricant film is formed on the surface of a substrate of a magnetic recording medium. The substrate consists of a non-magnetic base layer, a magnetic layer and a protective film, in that order. The substrate is immersed in a lubricant solution in a sealed container. The sealed container is pressurized with an inert gas introduced in the sealed container. The lubricant solution is then discharged, thereby forming a lubricant film on the surface of the protective film. Lubricant film thickness is varied by controlling a discharge rate, either by controlling the gas pressure, or the outflow rate of the lubricant solution.

  • Patent number: 6189405
Abstract: Horizontal slots and vertical slots in a fixed bracket and a movable bracket of a steering device provide a simple and compact structure for the adjustment of a steering wheel. A tightening shaft passes through both the horizontal and vertical slots. The operator adjusts the tightening shaft to provide either for free movement of the steering wheel, or for locking of the steering wheel in an operator selected position. This structure provides for the simultaneous adjustment of not only the tilting and telescoping of the steering wheel, but also for the inclination of the rotation plane of the steering wheel.

  • Patent number: 6177768
Abstract: The electrodes of a discharge lamp are prevented from reaching damaging temperatures which tend to occur when the discharge lamp is near the end of its useful life. The combination of a discharge lamp and luminaire contribute to ensuring the discharge lamp remains unilluminated when nearing the end of its useful life to prevent high temperature damage. Load circuit characteristics are set to provide low release voltage and high short-circuit current during full-intensity illumination, and high release voltage and low short-circuit current during dimmed operation. The discharge lamp operating in a dimmed mode at the end of its useful life is switched to full-intensity illumination mode to ensure the discharge lamp becomes unilluminated. This configuration prevents high temperatures at the electrodes from damaging the glass bulb, base, socket and other components of the discharge lamp and luminaire.

  • Patent number: 6164698
Abstract: A steering device is mounted in a limited space in a small engine compartment, thereby providing improved efficiency for assembly on production lines and improved vehicle maintenance. A steering column extends upward diagonally from in front of an engine into a driver's cabin. When seen from above the vehicle, the steering column extends from the front of the engine to driver's cabin through a space formed between the engine and a side member of a chassis frame. A steering shaft and a middle shaft of the steering column are connected via a joint, which passes along the side of the engine. The joint has a pair of tightening bolt holes, and serrations. Both shafts also have serrations mating with the serrations on the joint. One of the bolts is loosely fitted into one of the bolt holes during installation. A flat cavity on one of the joining shafts receives the loosely fitted tightening bolt. The flat cavity permits limited in and out motion of the joint for setting the final position of the joint.

  • Patent number: 6162355
Abstract: A liquid inlet opening of a cyclone filter is connected to a discharge opening of a first pump adapted to pump up untreated liquid coolant contained in a reservoir. The cyclone filter separates the liquid coolant fed by the first pump into clean liquid and dirty liquid as it swirls the liquid coolant. A clean liquid outlet of the cyclone filter is connected to the suction opening of a second pump so that liquid coolant with its pressure increased in the second pump is fed under a high pressure to a machine tool. A dirty liquid return pipe is connected to a dirty liquid outlet of the cyclone filter, with the end of the dirty liquid return pipe submerged in the liquid contained in the reservoir. A flow-directing orifice adjacent the clean liquid outlet of the cyclone filter ensures the dirty liquid flows into the dirty liquid return pipe.

  • Patent number: 6162103
Abstract: A reflex bend in a notched elongated plate member forms a compact terminal structure of a connector without requiring soldering, caulking, or crimping. This contact connects to a connecting pin in a three point contact structure. Two contact points are made by a groove near the terminus of the connecting pin that fits into a slot in the contact. A reflex bend in the contact provides resilient force to the bottom of the connecting pin, thereby forming the third contact point. This connector structure is especially useful for small electric contact where insufficient space is available for mechanical and electrical connections.
