Abstract: The invention relates to a slip for producing a durable hard coating on a substrate, comprising a) silicon nitride particles and b) a binder comprising nanosize solid particles and/or precursors of nanosize solid particles from production via a sol-gel process. The invention further relates to shaped bodies composed of a substrate with a durable hard coating which has been produced from a slip according to the invention. The shaped bodies of the invention are suitable for use in the field of corrosive nonferrous metal melts.

Abstract: A re-transfer printing machine 60 uses an ink film 33 having a sublimation-ink area of sublimation inks Y, M, C and an invisible-ink area of an invisible ink UVS and an intermediate-transfer film 11 having a protecting layer 11c and an ink receptor layer 11d enabling the sublimation inks and the invisible ink to be received. The machine includes an overlap detecting part 76-5 for detecting whether a print image contains an overlapping between a sublimation-ink image 18 and an invisible-ink image 20 and a controller 6 for controlling a transfer operation corresponding to detection by the overlap detecting part. If the overlap detecting part detects that the print image contains the overlapping, the controller allows the machine to transfer the sublimation-ink and invisible-ink images to different areas in the receptor layer. If not, the controller allows the machine to transfer the sublimation-ink and invisible-ink images to an identical area 212 in the receptor layer.
Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes a shutter drive section, an aperture blade drive section, an ND filter drive section, a light intensity detection section, a memory, and a control section. The shutter drive section opens and closes a shutter for a light receiving surface of a solid state image sensor. The aperture blade drive section drives an aperture blade forming an aperture. The ND filter drive section adjusts the position of an ND filter against the aperture. The control section calculates the exposure control voltage representing an exposure amount from the light intensity signal output from the light intensity detection section, and reads out the F value and the shutter speed corresponding to the exposure control voltage from the exposure control table stored in the memory so as to avoid a partial application state of the ND filter, for controlling respective drive sections.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for differentially detecting a multimeric form from a monomeric form of a multimer-forming polypeptide in a biosample, which comprises the steps of: (a) preparing a carrier-capturing antibody conjugate by binding a capturing antibody to the surface of a solid phase carrier in a three dimensional manner, wherein the capturing antibody is capable of recognizing an epitope on the multimer-forming polypeptide; (b) preparing a detection antibody, wherein an epitope recognized by the detection antibody is present at a position in the multimer-forming polypeptide to cause a steric hindrance by the capturing antibody bound to its epitope to prevent the binding of the detection antibody to the multimer-forming polypeptide; (c) contacting simultaneously the carrier-capturing antibody conjugate and the detection antibody to the biosample; and (d) detecting the formation of a carrier-capturing antibody-multimeric form-detection antibody complex.

Abstract: Disclosed are a sintered composite machine part as a cylinder block for piston pumps or piston motors, and a manufacturing method thereof. The machine part has an air-tight main body of sintered porous iron alloy and having an iron oxide layer on the surface; and a sliding part of sintered porous copper alloy being bonded direct to the main body. The sliding part is to be slid in tight contact with a fluid supply/return device. The manufacturing is made by preparing a main body of sintered porous iron alloy and a green compact for sliding part from a raw material metal powder having a composition corresponding to the copper alloy; sintering the green compact for sliding part in contact with the main body to bond the sliding part to the main body by diffused junction; and subjecting the main body to steam treatment to provide an iron oxide layer.
Abstract: The present invention refers to a device and a method for subcutaneous detachment of the face, the leg, the thigh, the breast, the abdomen and the forehead, facilitating the full detachment of the skin from the underlying (adipose) tissue with substantial reduction in bleeding, better skin cutting quality, lesser amount of post-op edema, decreased surgery time, minimization of ecchymoses, prophylaxis of facial nerve injuries, and above all, minimized formation of post-op hematomas.
Abstract: A hybrid power plant for efficiently propelling a vehicle is described. In particular, an internal combustion motor and a generator capable of producing electrical energy is mechanically coupled to the internal combustion motor. An electrical motor is powered by the generator and a controller is coupled to the generator, providing control of the rate of electricity provided to the electrical motor by the generator. Here the electrical motor facilitates rotation of a wheel of the vehicle and the internal combustion motor is operated at an idle or near-idle speed to provide sufficient energy to be converted into electrical energy by the generator, thereby enabling the electrical motor to propel the vehicle in excess of sixty miles per hour, without engaging the internal combustion motor to the wheel and without drawing energy from the battery.

The deadlock mechanism (30) includes: a lock pin (31) urged to a deadlock engagement position where a region of the lock rod (14), which is closer to the tip end side than the rod-side weak portion (18), is locked; and a lock control member (33) that inhibits movement of the lock pin (31) to a locked position thereof before the weak portions (17, 18) are cut off, and releases such regulation to the lock pin (31) after the weak portion (17, 18) are cutoff.

Abstract: A system and method for inscribing marks, that will remain non-discernable after tinting, on materials in general, and on plastic ophthalmic lenses in particular. The system uses a laser, which typically performs a heating-type inscription process, such as by use of a CO2 laser. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an apparatus for producing laser inscription on materials, including laser inscription apparatus for inscribing inscriptions on a surface of the materials, and apparatus for treating a zone of the surface that was affected by the laser inscription beam, to prevent it from absorbing excessive dye relative to other zones, wherein the inscriptions remain non-discernable after applying the dye.

Abstract: A drop sensor detects a drop of a device. When the drop of the device is detected, a sub CPU allows a counter to count a drop time. When the device drops for a predetermined time or more, the sub CPU controls a regulator so that the regulator forcibly disconnects an electric power to be supplied to a hard disc, and writes a drop occurrence flag into a nonvolatile memory. When the power supply is again turned on, a main CPU allows a display section to display information indicating that the power supply is disconnected due to the drop of the device.
Abstract: When reading the first document sheet, light intensity reference data is acquired by sampling a white reference plate while acquiring light intensity reference auxiliary data indicative of the light intensity of a light source lamp by sampling an auxiliary white reference plate. Then, just before reading the second or subsequent sheet, the auxiliary white reference plate is sampled to acquire the latest light intensity auxiliary data, followed by calculating the change amount from the light intensity reference auxiliary data. The change amount is used to correct the light intensity reference data separately for each picture element by referring to the profile data in which is stored the change amount of the sample value of each picture element corresponding to the change amount of the light intensity, followed by performing the shading compensation. By this configuration, it is possible to perform shading compensation in correspondence with the actual light intensity reduction.
